Happy with how the squad is shaping up. Sign a LWB and I’d be happy going into the new season. Obviously replace any of the “big 3” if they leave.

Think this signing along with Palmer is Adi being asked to get them back on track (like he did with (JCS). Both Panzo and Palmer have not quite lived up to the promise shown earlier in their careers. They have been sold for £3.5 and £1.5 million respectively so did show great promise previously. Adi said Palmer needs to be shown the love and perhaps Panzo is the same.

Do people seriously believe that Calamity McFadzean will last a whole campaign playing every game?

No chance.

Brilliant recruitment, providing cover and a touch of class.

Both of the loans will play a significant part of the season

Not sure of the negativity around this, or in general.

We’ve lost one CB and replaced him with two. Both young but not necessarily less experienced than JCS, as pointed out by others. I also think we’re in danger of looking back with rose tinted glasses here, JCS was good and I’d have liked to have retained him, but he hasn’t set some unreachable standard.

Panzo was once really highly thought of and for us to pursue for so long, MR (likely pushed by AV) clearly sees something.

Appreciate things could change, but as it stands we’re brought in three, not lost any key players and are still recruiting. One LBW away from taking us into the season with a

I think that will be it for defensive reinforcements. Both the loans can/have played at LWB and CB and with our limited budget I'm guessing any other players coming in will be further forward.

Like him on his own, just concerned about him and Doyle, unless one is playing LWB
I can't be bothered to read this whole thread but everyone seems hung up on the left foot so must be playing LCB thing. Couldn't one of them play the Fadz position?

I can’t see it, Panzo has played most his professional career at left back and Doyle looks like he struggles aerially which isn’t ideal for the middle of the back 3

Bit harsh that. Made the least mistakes out of all the centre backs last season I thought and when he played he was generally good.

But I do agree that his age could be a factor in how many games he plays this season.

At forest he played left side of a back three. Exactly where he will play for us

They have considerably less experience than Clarke Salter at this level

Adam Barton and Connor Thomas were highly rated once

Clarke Salter was not an experienced CB, he near enough played more for us than he had before.

Must've missed those two signing for Monaco from a PL academy then being sold for £1.5m to a promotion chasing side, or winning the U19s Euros and getting first team games aged seventeen while on loan from the best team in England. Maybe compare apples with apples, mate.

Kastaneer signed for a Dutch premier league side. Roy o Donovan played in tbe English premier league

If he’s they good why did he make one 65 minute appearance at Forest? Was he injured?

Why was the messiah JCS labelled a "Birmingham Reject" when he first signed?

Surely we just wait and see after a few games and see if Panzo is any good?

We all know players only get a single friendly before they are judged on here

Well I was replying to someone pleased with the signing who also doesn’t know if he’s any good

It’s likely that Mcfazdean will feature less now and so it’s legitimate to be concerned with have signed 2 players who’ve between them 65 minutes experience in this league

He was let go from Monaco and Dijon after two years, both times. Then joined Forest and barely played 90mins in four months. Granted he was probably never going to get ahead of their back three though.

Seemingly he's lived on his success during his youth career and done little since.

It's definitely a wait and see signing.

I think a lot of fans deem "good" as "not shit". Which kind of muddles the thinking on here sometimes.

I thought JCS was excellent when fit last season (“when fit” being my only concern about him), quick, powerful, good with the ball. Would have loved him back, class above Fadz and Hyam IMO.

Blew hot and cold for me. Would have been happy for him to come back but not upset he hasn't. Solid loan.

Neither of the new names you've thrown out came to us from even vaguely comparable situations to the two signings we've just made.

No idea why Panzo didn't play. Someone here said Forest had a better player in his position. Maybe that's why, maybe not, but that wasn't my point.

O'Hare was let go, played no games. Vik got sh*t reviews at Swansea. No one knew about Hamer before he signed. Panzo might be good. Let's see.

I think we've got a good track record for bringing in players in similar situations over the last few years so that, for me, is cause for optimism.

Maatsen, Stirling, JCS, Sheaf, O'Hare, Dabo, Ostigaard, Vik. Players that didn't make it at their academy clubs or were early on in that journey.
