Morning all,

The new installment of our CCFC podcast – The Nii Lamptey Show – is now available.

This week's episode is bursting at the seams with Carl Baker and terrible word play, so if that sounds like your sort of thing, you can download it directly from here...

http://niilampteyshow.libsyn.com/

Or you can search for it on iTunes – we have a natty new logo!

As ever, please spread the word if you like it. If you hate it, please don't tell other people. They might be less choosy than you.

Cheers,

Ed

I just tried this to see what it was.
1. I could hardly hear anything
2. What I could hear was just inane conversation.
3. Why?

1. Turn your volume up. (on a serious note the episode I listened to was a little quiet).
2. I listened to the emergency podcast and quite enjoyed it. This is generally what a podcast is. People sharing their views.
3. Why not?

Thanks for giving it a try.

The short answer to your question – 'Why?' – is that a lot of other clubs have a fan podcast, which serves an alternative forum for opinion, speculation, and gossip. We thought it would be nice to provide something that filled that gap for our club.

Cheers,

Ed

Totally agree about the volume – it is a little a quiet. We're trying to find an alternative method for recording to sort it out.

Why? Ha ha, why do anything?

Why not? The first one was good, just about to listen to this one now.
I tried my hand at podcasting 4 or 5 years ago and it was absolutely terrible so well done.

Enjoying the first 30 mins so far. The only problem is, is the volume as people have said is a bit low...

Mate, I've listened to all three now (including emergency podcast) and I'm really starting to enjoy it. Been looking forward to this one as it's going to have some positive content for once which was a concern I had before. The quality is still a little weak at times but overall it's good.

Keep up the good work!!

I agree – it's still very patchy at times, but we'll keep plugging away it.

I enjoyed it - a bit too rambly at times but that's natural when you're just getting started I imagine. Might be worth collaborating beforehand to outline the structure of what you're going to talk about and loosely the points you want to make - that will help keep things on track but still allow you to dick around and be silly - which I think we all need!

Volume was shocking though, almost unlistenable on my laptop unless I was right next to it.

Yeah. Enjoyed the first 4 and half hours but then found it dragged after that!!!

Think it needs to be a lot more concise to be honest, otherwise it's a real boon. Except for Knowl of course!

Thanks to everybody who's giving us a listen – the comments/constructive criticism are genuinely appreciated, as is your patience, while we fumble around for a formula that works.

I promise the next one will be shorter, and come with a complimentary ear trumpet!

Don't mind at all if you turn Knowl's mic down though.

You can tell him I said that. :D

I've listened to them all now and i listen to a lot of podcasts. At first i wasn't sure but now i've heard all three i'm starting to really enjoy it. I think it needs to be more punchy so i'd probably cut it down to 45 minutes, and if there's nothing to talk about then wrap it up.

A bit like everyone else though, the big problem is the sound. The volume is bad because it sounds like you're having a conference call as opposed to sitting in a room with each other. There are LOADS of places you can record stuff to a decent quality, and you can even get pretty reasonable recording software for free. But you need Mic's and you need Headphones. Sort the sound out and sit in the same room as each other and you'll find the flow is more natural, you'll bounce off each other better, and the whole quality of the show will go up.

Secretly of course i'm jealous because i've been wanting to do a podcast for ages but couldn't get together anyone who was up for it.

I think the intro music needs to be a tad shorter, seems to go on along time. I agree that you should all meet up and buy headsets that you can plug into a laptop and record into the laptop. Would help volume and it would make the show flow alot better, not that it doesnt already.

Hi mate,

Unfortunately, it sounds like a conference call because it is a conference call. Although we all attend games regularly, matchday is pretty much the only day we're all in the same place at the same time.

Having said that, we are looking at ways of making the sound quality better and we'll be experimenting with that over the next few weeks. It's unlikely we'll be able to get something that's studio quality, but hopefully we'll be able to at least make a slight improvement.

Cheers for the comments and and glad you're enjoying what we're doing, despite some of the glitches!

The mike is more important than the connection. It's digital, what you hear is what is recorded.

Invest is good quality mikes (search best podcast mike for a load) and use one of the many Skype a likes out there.

Yeah i kind of assumed you were having a conference call, you could tell by the pauses before people say stuff. You'd probably find it easier to do on Skype - the sound quality would be better as well and at least you'd be able to see each other.

Still, poor sound is better than no sound. But as i listen while i'm driving, if you could sort it out asap it'd be much appreciated...;)

Ha! We'll try our best.

*Searches in vain for a forelock-tugging emoticon. Settles for a 'pimp' instead.* :pimp:

As I say, thanks very much for the feedback and the suggestions. I think we're going to trial the Skype option for the next show.

Skype et al have far lower sound quality than a landline. Plus you have to pay for the premium edition to be able to do conference calls.

All the contributors are in different locations hence the need for a conference call. How would it work using mics? Each individual would have top record their own contribution and then some poor person would have to collate them and edit them all together. Timings would invariably be out over the course of 10 minutes, never mind an hour, so overdubbing wouldn't work.

Just listened to the whole thing whilst walking the dog. Thought it was very good. A touch of early xfm mixed with Coventry city!

Hopefully it will get better as we go along, especially with regard to sound quality etc.

Thanks for giving it a try, and please let other people know if you think they might enjoy it.
