Talk of lack of footballing understanding, Grendal appears.

What’s to moan about today clueless? Boddy over and under priced anyone else recently?

Its you who said Hamer bossed midfield - no one agrees with you do they? Who kn earth was man marking him?

Moore 5 - A terrible flap for the goal. Said it before, his decision making since he came back from Covid has been eccentric on occasion. Harder to use Covid as an excuse as time goes by, however...
Eccles 4 - I like him, think he looked excellent in his cameo at RWB last season, but this was a poor game. Offered nothing, couldn't cross, and his first touch travelled half the pitch on occasion.
Hyam 6 - average, could be better, could be worse.
McFadzean 7 - every season people think he's on his way out, every season he drags us along and still looks capable at this level.
Panzo 8 - good debut - he's a brick shithouse isn't he! And a good shot on him it seems, too.
Bidwell - 5.5 Got caught for the goal, improved second half, offered some kind of threat now and again, unlike Eccles.
Hamer 5 - hmm, not a lot to be said.
Sheaf 6 - tidy, little impact.
Allen 5 - lovely quick feet in the penalty area once, but other than that anonymous.
Godden 5 - off the pace.
Gyokeres 7 - saved by the goal. First half was poor, made a bad decision or two as well, but great strike, and showed his strength when having his shirt ripped off too.

Palmer, Tavares, Walker 6. None of them looked outstanding but they all contributed to an uptick in tempo.
Dabo - 8 Dynamic, turned the game so instead of defending we were worrying them on the right. OK, we miss O'Hare, but this shows we miss a fully fit Dabo, too.

Moore 6 at fault for goal but recovered and made some good saves
Eccles 5 big occassion struggled a bit v very good opponent.
Hyam 7 did well but got under ball a bit for first goal.
McFadzean 7 solid.
Panzo 8 really impressed with him.
Bidwell 6 did okay caught flat footed for first goal.
Hamer 6 inconsistent game by his standards and silly needless booking.
Sheaf 7 Solid
Allen 6 worked hard was in first half if Gykores had squared ball to him.
Gyokeres 7 Ran channels well and was a handful for their defence. The goal was a peach.
Godden 5 Not his best game and missed best chance of the game.

Palmer 6 needs a few more minutes to get fully up to speed. But we all know that.
Tavares 7 had some nice touches and linked well with Dabo.
Dabo 7 Benefited from the game starting to be stretched and wide positions of Tavares. Not sure it would have worked so well from start - also think his fitness doesnt need to be rushed.
Walker 6 did okay when came on.o

Panzo is going to end up a fans favourite. One of those loans that breaks hearts when it's time to go back.

Just looking at WhoScored.com

Jamie Allen touched the ball just 23 times in 61 mins, which includes just 15 passes playing in midfield for a team who dominated possession, is pretty poor.

Hamer had 74 and Sheaf 68 in 90 mins.

Hamer looked rattled for a lot of the game and wasn’t at his best. To me he didn’t boss anything but again I could also be clueless

Not sure I saw hamer bossing the midfield , first half hamer and sheaf were all over the shop .. now please bear in mind I rate both these players highly .. also Allen who may aswell have been sat in the changing room and Eccles who simply is NOT a wing back .. were the main reasons we struggled ro get any kind of rythem first half

Moore - 5
Mistake for the goal, claimed a low cross well, one regulation save. Needs to be better.

Eccles - 4
Just didn't seem to offer anything. Hope he isn't used there again any time soon!

Hyam - 6
Didn't see him do anything wrong, don't remember him doing much in possession.

Fadz - 7
Always offering for the ball, no clear mistakes, worried we have no one to cover him.

Panzo - 8 (MOM)
Looks an upgrade at LCB. Him, fit for 30+ games will make a huge impact.

Bidwell - 5
Better second half, want to see more from him going fwd. Hopeful he'll improve.

Hamer - 6
Booking was shameful with Sheaf two yards away. D*ckhead. Otherwise, decent game.

Sheaf - 7
Passing was good, made some great tackles esp. towards the end. Just shoot next time!

Allen - 5
He's not capable of playing alone behind the strikers and being effective. Poor game.

Godden - 5
Terrible miss. Don't remember much that he did that helped us. Worked hard.

Vik - 8
A threat on his own so often, two great crosses we never made use of, brilliant goal.

Palmer looked decent, Dabo needs to start as soon as he can and Robins deserves credit for working on 433 as that could make a real difference. Walker looked better linking play and holding it up than I remember seeing before. Tavares, I'm not convinced but want to see him more, esp. wide in the 433.

Sunderland fans highlighted him as being one of the best players on the park, just so you know...

He did some frustrating things and his delivery was uncharacteristically poor from set pieces today.

I would disagree. Panzo bailed us out more than once defensively, looked positive on the ball and came a whisker away from goal of the season on debut.

Oh I agree, I think Panzo was my MOTM today. Just pointing out what some of the Mackems are saying is all, also mentioning Panzo. Always interesting to see opposition fan views - they're often less clouded by agendas etc than the views of some on here!

Hamer and Sheaf were much better in the second half, I imagine largely because for most of it they had more bodies to pass to in front of them.

Sheaf’s first half through ball to Bidwell was pretty orgasmic to be fair

Same as all Godden performances. I'm impressed how slow he is.

Might have gone a bit higher on Sheaf but otherwise I agree.
Made the Moore Covid point in the pub and it didnt have a lot of traction but he's definitely not been the same since in my opinion

I said before the game that we should start with 1 upfront, and we'd need the extra man in midfield, and this is how it played out.
Sunderland started quickly and pressed us high, and we couldn't get any possession in the final third. An extra body in midfield would of made the difference (imho)
We could of started with Dabo at RWB and Eccles in CMF, and left Godden on the bench, we would of competed far better in the first half if set up.like that.

However, you can't legislate for Moore gifting them a goal with his howler.

I’d agree with this - I’m glad because with adhd and alcohol I’ve got the attention span of a gnat so really couldn’t be arsed writing anything that required effort.

Few thoughts.

Bidwell - He’s just not attack-minded enough for our system, where we need our WB’s to be bombing forward. He got badly done for the goal, but after that he was solid. Adaramola will be first choice LWB once bedded in

Moore - Rally poor error. If it was really that close between Moore & Wilson for the jersey, the latter should start against Rotherham.

Godden - OK he missed the sitter, but thought he played well, still not convinced he or Vik can play in a two.

Palmer - Impressed. Lovely touch and passing.
O’Hare & Palmer behind Vik is surely eventually going to be first choice.
