What's our current cash on hand situation? You seem to know.

Don't make up shit like we've sold Hyam only because we've run out of money and then ask others to back up their statements, especually a perfectly reasonable assertion that the owners will cover cash flow shortages (as they have before). Back up your own statements before asking that of others.

Robins has had no input into the decision to sell. So who made it and why?

Well four games in and 11 goals conceded. An idiot can see where our problem lies but hey lets sell our most prized central defender from under the nose of the manager with a week left of the transfer window and not give him the money to replace him.

if I was Robins I would be gone and who would blame him.
our owners really dont want us to push for promotion do they or even challenge in the championship because they arnt prepared to spend any money. Absolutely fuming tonight with the whole shit show of Sisu with this and the pitch fiasco. Hope they fck off and we get someone before its to late and we are back in the lower leagues

Our defence has been terrible last year too. No clean sheets since Feb vs Barnsley at home.

I not sure that's what he said tbh.

I am sure the recent issues have applied increased pressure to sell before the end of the window, but it has been said on here countless times since the end of last season that we're due to sell somebody.

Seemingly everyone I spoke to was of the view that 'one of the big 3' would be sold, a general acceptance that the overall finances are such that one of those assets would be turned into cash, and it was just a case of how much we'd get to reinvest. The sale didn't happen of course, despite some pretty hefty bids.

Now, we accept a bid for Hyam, and Grendel is foaming at the mouth trying to argue this has nothing to do with 'accounted debt' and is because weve literally run out of cash.

The truth is we've needed to sell a player for some time, long before the pitch issues. It's happened. Robins said it was all a bit leftfield and came out of the blue. It what it is, let's see who we bring in.

The truth seems that the pittance received for Hyam won’t touch the sides so someone else needs to go still. Which if true begs the question why sell Hyam at all-it’s certainly not for footballing reasons.

with respect I have and you’ve actually not referenced any financial information have you?

Oh and if they will cover cash flow shortages why have we sold someone today?

Selling players to finance covering running the club & buying players is fine we have done it for years way before the sisu years. We have done it in the sisu years too, Wilson, Maddison and a string of other lower signings , Keogh, Jukevich, McCallum to name a few and part of those fees have gone to the manager for team building, but now that has stopped sisu are trousering the lot.

I can't recall you posting any financial information at all.

There is no requirement for me to do so given that I have made only 2 assertions; one that the club operates at a loss and two that the owners cover said losses in the form of loans. Which of these are you disputing?

Why have we sold Hyam? Because we need the money, it's not for footballing reasons is it? And even if the owners will cover cash flow shortages, that they have done so in the past is surely without dispute, I suspect the preference from the clubs perspective is not to go cap in hand to the owners if it's not necessary.

I've not denied that there are obvious cash flow drivers, but the 'run out of money' comment is a bit hyperbolic and not based on anything other than your hunch.

heres what I believe is the likely shortfall - how do you see it?

Pretty much where you are. That has been my argument all along, that player sales are required to keep the losses in check. I'm not why you have spent to last hour arguing with me?

Oh and short term loans in the accounts have been nowhere near that less than £500m season and most paid back. operating losses have always prior to promotion been covered by player sales.

Wages have grown from £6m to around £17m - we have an EFL loan to pay back in addition - and I repeat short term loans from what I’m looking at have been minuscule and mostly paid back (what are you looking at?) - so I’d be interested given this how you believe we can remain operational in this league for a sustained period?

Where is the money coming from?

how do we retain league status on what is an inferior operating model to our competition?

Who says it's inferior? Remove those with parachute payments and those bankrolled (with whom we can't realistically compete anyway, so shouldn't try) that puts us in the mix with a 9/10 clubs, and the simple truth is we have to be better than them, and we have been have we not? Unless you want me to present a full mission statement in true Jerry Maguire style, I can't really answer that question.

Short of courting a filthy rich oligarch, we just have to be the best we can be with the resources we have. What's your solution? As stated, the owners will support the club and help cover losses to a point, but we need to sell once in a while, so why all the surprise when we do? That might mean we're treading water, I get that, but what's the solution?

Again, you never answer questions, what is it that you want from the owners while they are still here?

Most clubs in this league will have a negative net spend.

I don't think net spend is necessarily the issue

We need:

Another £2-3m on the wage bill

£2-3m a season on signings

The aim is we’ll pick up a £10m player every 3-4 signings and maybe a couple of £5m ones. Getting us £20m from maybe £5-6m.

We need owners who can fund the first, and weather the storms and negotiate their way to the second without shitting the bed at the first sign of trouble and cutting the team off at the knees.

Selling the silverware to pay the bills is a false economy. If we’ve got no strategy for either massively increasing our commercial revenue (beyond the level of any other team in the division) or selling players for large sums, we’ve got no strategy for a Championship club.

I fail to believe Sisu don’t have access to capital, but seem to not have the appetite for this level of funding commitment. So they need to shit or get off the pot.

Or shit or watch your asset depreciate, which it invariably will.

Exactly. You can moan about operating costs all you like but all that happens in L1 is we barely fill a third of the ground and we lose millions in TV money.

Either you take the challenge of making CCFC (with its top ten crowds for the division IIRC) viable at this level, or you don’t. Either way be open with fans, and we can be open as to whether that’s acceptable.

I know it's been asked on here numerous times but what is their end game?
As you point out, we get relegated and the value drops considerably, and we will, eventually.

We’ve been asking that for what? 14 years? And we’re none the wiser. It’s the weird mix of steadfast refusal to sell along with refusal to invest and rely on miracles. And no action at all on the things they can control like the ground.

How we’d all love Joy to come out and lay it all out for us. Does she even have an exit strategy? Has she taken us as far as she can without further investment?

I wonder if she wants to sell part of the club but retain a major interest and that puts others off.

They did it up to 2010 when successive Chris Coleman failures saw them turn off the tap and switch to trying to hijack the stadium. The amounts of money you estimate there I think are about right and really would have us above the ‘ceiling’ of 12th.

You have to speculate to accumulate.

…we’re not then?

This feels like a swipe by Robins at SISU and Boddy. We are not showing any ambition to kick on in the league and now Robins is routinely coming out pissed off and now saying we will have to replace Hyam with a free transfer. We can cope with losing any player but we can’t without Robins. I really hope the club repair the relationship with Robins ASAP.

Arguably. All I heard over the summer was 'if we keep the big 3, I'll take that', we do that but then sell Hyam and people lose bladder control.

Lets see who we bring in.

We haven't seen enough of the players we have brought in to properly judge if we are weaker overall than last season. I'm not sure we are tbh. It's fine to be concerned, but some people need to give their heads a wobble, some really hysterical takes.

The most important person in all this is MR, he didn't sound hysterical or like he was about to throw in the towel to me. He sounded like a man determined to do his job, no matter the situation. A very frustrated manager at the things he has no power or control over, but understanding of the process and remit he has with the club. By the sounds of it, he will swing away at the curve balls being thrown at him and hope to hit a few home runs when possible.. Im sure he will turn this into a positive and keep the group focused on getting better, believing in the process and finding ways to add players to help the group improve.

As for Hyam he was a young unknown player signed on a free with no fan expectations. His determination and desire with help from others at the club has enabled him to improved every year and play a massive part in the clubs success. MR stated he is going to a club with higher aspirations and better foundations than us to go higher and goes with everyone's blessing. MR and staff should be proud at the job they are doing with the development of players. Hyam was not the 1st or will be last that to leave the club being better players on better contracts, that part of the business will never change.

As for the owners, its very clear they have taken this as far as they can. The manager has more potential than them, the club has more potential than them and the fans are ready to support the next step. Unfortunately they don't have the same desire or have the means to support it. 12th in the championship brought expectations and gave us a genuine platform to go better again this season. Unfortunately for them 12th was a burden that has exposed the limitations they have. I hope the opportunity comes for them to do honorable thing and sell the club, we need owners that have higher aspiration and deeper pockets if we are to make progress. We don't want reckless unsustainable spending, we need to give MR a top 10 budget and time and im sure we can compete at the top end of this league.
