Maybe signing announcement on pitch 5 mins before kick off or at half time? That would be really nostalgic

It’s mental that the manager and so many fans just accept that we can’t compete financially at this level. Run the club like we’re still in League One and there is only one place we’re going to end up.

Would have been nice for the club to tell us we had no money and weren’t going to try this season before forking out for season tickets as well. Robins has apparently known we were fucked this season for a year, if I’d have known that I wouldn’t have bothered parting with £350 to watch us lose every week.

Yeah didn’t sound positive on the CB front. Doyle acquitted himself well tonight but against a team who were more bothered about keeping a clean sheet

Yeah he’d struggle against Norwich and WBA

Its hard to see where the next win comes from, we look so disjointed. That squad needs help but not sure MR will get it. He sounds like he has told the powers to be the outcome of a poor summer strategy and is watching it all play out with i told u so mentality.

Might be wrong , but i get the sense something is going to snap. Its a very strange look, reaction and feel to previous years. Terrible few months which could be about to get a lot worse over next 24 hrs

Not quite what he said.
He knew & accepted that we would need to sell players. The club's plan all along was to sell one of the big 3 (preferably Hamer) but it hasn't materialised.

Wasn't sure what thread to put this in but wanted to get a few thoughts down.

We were relatively poor defensively last season and this was the area we needed to strengthen the most. Instead, we've lost our most reliable centre back, replaced a loan who had good football league experience with 2 (Doyle and Panzo) who have hardly had a kick in mens football, Fadz is now a year older and getting slower and slower. The amount of times sides get in behind our defence compared to us getting in behind other sides is ridiculous.

Wing backs are the most important position in our team. We've lost Maatsen who gave us some much needed pace. Although Bidwell is solid he's never going to bomb forward and take on a man. Even at RWB we had Kane and Dabo fighting it out last season. Kane is now out of favour and we have a young midfielder filling in there. In every position in the back 5 we are weaker than last season.

Going forward I think we all knew we were never going to be as free flowing without Ohare linking the play. There's absolutely no pace or creativity in the side at all.

Yes we haven't sold any of the big 3 but if you stagnate in the championship then you start going backwards. Would definitely be taking 21st right now

Doyle played plenty of mens football before us.

If we’re that reliant on sales to avoid the situation we’re in now then it makes us look like amateurs for not taking the money offered this summer for either Hamer or O’Hare. I’m fairly sure one of better days or SBB said we’d rejected £5m for Hamer, which is close to triple what we paid. If we shot ourselves in the foot asking for too much it’s our own fault.

Fair enough he had a season in league 1 but he's still very very young to be playing Central defence in the championship. It's fairly well known we missed a few targets before settling on him

JCS the obvious one. Sounded like we missed out on a few LWBs before Adaramola as well. Suggests we didn’t have the wages to offer or fees required.

Doyle was fantastic I thought tonight , going to be a great player for us this season. He is only a kid so will make the odd mistake but really liked what I saw tonight.

Will never happen but would love him and Panzo to sign permanently end of this season.

he also says selling them is away to move forward. How does that work?

I’m sure Doyle will cement his roll in the team and Panzo must come in too but where especially if we pick up another CB tomorrow, I have an idea where he might fit in but wonder what others think.

LWB maybe? As an option to rest Bidwell

It’s our reality so what else is there to do beside accept it?

Maatsen rarely took on a man. Bidwell has been of our better attacking players so far this season.

I wasn't a massive Maatsen fan but he certainly ran with the ball a lot more than Bidwell is willing to. Bidwell has been ok so far this season but still don't think he's a wing back

In contrast to this, a few weeks ago there were posters saying we 'easily had a top 6 squad'. Since then we have lost Hyam. I don't think Hyam, although a decent centre back, constitutes us going from 'easily a top 6 squad', to 'Owners have given us a terrible squad and we are relegation fodder'. It's been a shit start to the season. Both off-field and on. I understand the frustrations. Regardless though, with the squad we have available to us, we *should* be comfortably at least 15-18th ish. I know that isn't bells and whistles and as good as any of us hope, but it also isn't the Armageddon that currently feels is going on here. If we are to lose every week as you suggest, not all of that can be put at the board and a lot must have gone wrong on the pitch.

If we make a sale today of Vik/Hamer etc. of course that changes.

Why do you have to take on a man to be a wing-back? Bidwell was very effective last night & has had a solid start to the season.

He gets into forward positions in the box as well. Could have scored in the last two games. He’s an upgrade on Maatsen - it’s Dabo that’s really looking unable to make it as a championship wing back consistently

I would argue that those posters were wrong and we had nowhere near a top 6 squad, and that peoples judgment was clouded by the start to last season. We’ve been in dreadful form for a while now and have made an already weak defence worse.

Of course we aren’t a top six squad we have averaged a point a game for half a season - and that’s with O Hare
