I was 6 in 1990 .we have finished 11th in the premiership..and 8th in division 1..in 22 years of supporting city that is pathetic by any stretch of the imagination.correct my stats if they are wrong.but seeing this makes you realise why we get 10k at Home now.when oh when will things change

Agreed, you see clubs like blackpool and wigan that inspire more excitement. as in prem football

22 years of being a city fan, had a season ticket from when I was 5 till when I was 15, this season (as a fan living in Norfolk) is the first season with a season ticket for 11 years. Cov have ways been the first thing I think about when I wake up and the last thing I think about before I go to sleep. Probably why I get so arsey when plastic fans on here complain when Bell farts at hf time

I had a conversation with my son the other day who said he can't understand why i support this woeful club.
I had to explain that I was born there, they became the club I supported at a time when there was no internet, only 2 channels on television and so on. Through those youthful days growing up you become a fan for life.

I thought I would hate it in league 1 and find it difficult to support them at all until the good times came back or at least the championship.
Now I find that not so. I'm as enthused as ever and hungry and caring as ever for City to do well each week. It's not the league you are in it's your club. now I understand how fans up and down the country still watch their small town clubs each week.

I guess we have one thing the majority of them don't have though. We are aiming naturally to be back in the big time and it is only a matter of time. One day we will ask "SISU? who were they" and that's it about support. It's a lifelong experience so enjoy the ride!

I think my first experience of CCFC was as a toddler watching from my living room window as the Villa fans were being escorted away from Highfield road by policemen on horses.

Anyway, despite everything and our sad demise and fall I'll always follow the team even from out here in the colonies. I get a lot of questions from ManUre and Chelsea Kiwi's about my choice of team and where they are in terms of league position, followed by laughter. I feel an attachment to the club, pride that it is my hometown team especially in a society of instant gratification and little sense of loyalty. Out here it is acceptable to change your Super Rugby team if you move to a different region so for a lot of people it is bewildering to understand why I still follow Cov.

Every season start I think 'this year will be our year', this year is no exception and although we've not had the best start it is early enough that it still can be our season...

One day it will.

You feel bad? What about us old farts who still support the team we love? I watched my first game when I was 10 - back in 1963! I've seen many a great game in the times that have past, the ups and the downs, the highs and the lows. Unfortunately, there have been far too many "downs" and "lows" where City are concerned. But I still love 'em! You just can't help it. We just keep hoping every season that "this will be our year". That's what keeps us going. I know what it's like having "plastic" supporters in the family. One of my sons is an avid Manure fan, yet he's NEVER seen them play live. Pah! (I think secretly he always checks the City results though!)

You were a year late mate. We finished 7th in 89. Best city side of all time.

My first season was 77/78 with Wallace and Ferguson up front. I dont remember much as I was only a kid just snap shots really but over the years its been pretty lame with the odd season here and there and a few great one off results. The problem is all those years in Division 1/Premier bar the odd season we have achieved nothing. When you're in the bottom half of the league and just surviving for most of your recent history you are never going to get new young supporters in any number and of course the old boys are unfortuantely passing away at the top. We have missed a whole generation of new supporters while being out of the top flight. Go to any school in the area and you'll be hard pushed to find a Cov fan. My son is 10 and he just laughs at me and to be fair I don't blame him, non of his friends support Cov. I've even taken him up to a few games to try to get him in to it but he not interested in a life a misery with City.

You lot are lucky. Im 17 and have supported since I was 9... 1 top half finish I believe in that time.

However there is no way I could have ever supported anybody else..my dad is a ccfc nut..loves them and if idvof gone back and said dad can I have a man utd top..I genuinely believe he'd of done something bad lol..

What makes it worse is that my parents are only mild football fans so I wasn't dragged into it, It was my own choice.

I am one of the lucky ones who grew up in the Jimmy Hill era. I remember the Hud thumping in the goal against Colchester that won division 3, the game against Wolves with 51K at Highfield Road, Gibbo artist supreme. The Sky Blue Express going to Southampton in our first season in Division One. Getting into Europe, with the like of Beckenbaur Muller in the Bayern side we beat 2-1 at Highfield Road (OK with got thumped 6-1 at their place) and Seeing what I consider the greatest game at Highfield Road against West Ham in the league cup coming back from 2 down to win 3 -2. The best strike partnership we ever had in my opinion in Wallace and Ferguson, and of course Wembley. I really feel for any one who supported us after 87, you have had nothing the shout about, jack shit. Even my own grand kids refuse to go now because 'we are just rubbish Granddad'. Something has to change to give us some sort of belief, because right now it feels like we are in a never ending spiral downwards.

I have my own theory as to the demise of the City , so bear with me ....... there are a few things that happened around 2000 .

Firstly Gary Mc Allister who had been on fire in 99/00 season ....his contract was not renewed , Liverpool snapped him up and he was their best player for 2 more seasons .

Secondly Robbie Keane who had been on the end of most of Mc Allister`s passes was sold

25 goals effectively ripped out of the team ......... replaced by Bellamy !!!

We all know what happened the following season .....the body blow that we are still reeling from .

Thirdly......The money went towards The New Stadium project ......... I know I am an old fart from the JH Sky Blue era but I just can`t forget Highfield Road especially when full , particularly evening games .

I know that you have to move on but HR will always be home to me .

It is difficult to see any sustained success being achieved , particularly with our Managerial Hot Seat reputation .

I don`t really think the Club had any choice with the AT situation he should have gone last year in my opinion ....... whoever comes in I think will struggle with the current crop as I can only pick out a few worth their place at present .

Oh dear this is really depressing........ sorry all
