Due out in cinema tomorrow, could be the best worst film ever

Apparantly a Flatley vanity project. Wrote, starred and paid for it. Taken a right hammering from the critics.

Watched the first two Rings of Power episodes tonight. Not really sure what I think of it, but will stick with it...

Nice effects and all, but it's got none of the magic or charm of the original three films.
The pacing feels a bit rushed too

It’s too choppy changy so just as you get into one thread it switches to something else. Not fallen in love with any characters yet and the story hasn’t grabbed me (again because none of the threads have progressed past general intrigue yet).

That said, the cinematography is beautiful and I’m enjoying the set pieces. So will stick with it and see where it goes.

My biggest peeve is that they used that crappy intro when they had this ready made:

Pretty much echos my thoughts exactly.
They should have maybe done two characters stories an episode or something, rather than zooming across the map 200mph.
Hopefully it gets better, but also has the same prequel issues as some of the recent Star Wars series where there is no danger for some characters as we know they survive till later films.

Never saw that into before either. Agree much better than what they went with and feels a lot more Middle Earthey

In addition to the serial killer stuff I found the focus on the newspapers to be a bit preachy as well, Gus as a weird moral avatar for David Simon rather than an actual person in a show.

Finished watching Gaslit last night.
A modern take on the 1970s political Watergate scandal centering on untold stories and forgotten characters of the time.

Bloody loved it.
Julia Roberts, Sean Penn and Dan Stevens were superb in it.

It's on STARZ

The Sandman. Somewhat enjoyed 4 episodes out of the 11. So no, I don’t recommend!
loved Sandman. was a bit worried when they announced it as its one of those things that's always been said to be unfilmable but thought they did an excellent job.

Out of interest are you a fan of the source material or coming to it fresh?

I was aware of it’s existence having seen a few issues years ago in the school library. So pretty fresh.
