We improved in the second half but think Robins bottled it.

To not make any subs when they were wide open was criminal, could have potentially cost us as they did make subs and then should have had a pen.

Wilson 6 kicking poor otherwise not too bad
Dabo 3 awful display yet again
McFadzean 5 gave 2nd goal away
Doyle 6 played better than Rose on the right
Panzo 6 improved the defence when he came on
Bidwell 6 steady
Sheaf 6 two brilliant passes but gave the ball away so often
Hamer 6 brilliant goal but other than that it was a 5 awful first half improved second.
Allen 6 ran round like a headless chicken again 2 goal chances
Gyokeres 8 mom really should have had at least 3 goals and that was in the first 15 minutes. Seemed to play them on his own.
Godden 6 didn’t really add anything to the team was surprised he made it to the end.

Honestly despite my moaning, we did play well. Away at Luton isn't a walk in the park.

MR MUST be asked why not subs. Not to do so is a failure of duty as a reporter

Wilson 6 - Average, but almost gifted them a goal.
Doyle 6 - Fought pretty hard, not the worst defender by any means.
Fadz 4 - What he was doing for their second goal I have no clue. Poor until right at the end.
Panzo 6 - Actually looked ok and his desire to get forward was commendable.
Dabo 3 - Sick of saying it, nowhere near good enough. The illusion he is good going forward is a joke as well. Produced nothing.
Bidwell 6 - Played well but was noticeably tired towards the end and then made a mistake or two.
Sheaf 6 - Some very good bits and some pretty poor bits. The pass for the first was good, but their defender did also read it terribly.
Hamer 6 - Gets an extra mark for the goal as it was a screamer, otherwise would be a five at most.
Allen 4 - I really, really want to like him, but I just don't get what he does. Lots of energy but doesn't really contribute any real quality.
Godden 4 - Love Godden, but he wasn't really involved very much and that's frustrating.
Gyokeres 6.5 - Played like a monster but also missed several chances he should have scored, which caps his score a bit.

Substitutions - Not applicable as we didn't fucking make any (Rose doesn't count).
Robins - See my last point and learn what one of them is. Pretty hopeless game management again, and whilst a point is fine, some players were shattered or not contributing and we could have thrown even that away. I'm not starting a conspiracy, but I am a bit curious where his head is at right now.

Wilson 5 - Not entirely convincing but not the only one.
Dabo 5 - Dreadful first ha;f better in the second a little
Doyle 5.5 - Will get better a bit flyweight
Panzo 5.5 - Did ok when he came on better than Rose anyhow
Rose 4 - Very Poor tonight
Fadz 5 - Not a good day at the office take his dominance away and he becomes a liability
Bidwell 6 - Steadiest of the back line by far!
Sheaf 7 - Thought he had a good game till the booking clipped his wings
Hamer 6 - Great goal but seems to lack energy and drive think he could do with losing some timber!
Allen 6 - The only one in the midfield with true energy and drive shame he lacks that bit of quality but agree with Grendel our only engine in midfield we miss COH badly.
Gyokeres 6.5 - Combination of brilliance and clumsiness glad we have him though we need him.
Godden 5.5 - Not his best game largely ineffective.

Moore needs to come back in and Fadz needs to sit on the bench.

Moore is obviously the better keeper but Wilson has done OK since he came in and Moore was absolutely calamitous at the start of the season. Wilson deserves the shirt for now.

Wilson 6 (indecisive on occasions but not much he could do about the goals)
Dabo 5 (did improve second half but should have headed clear for first goal and touch was poor)
Rose 6 (felt for him with early injury. His opportunity to get regular starts and another injury)
McFadzean 4 (out-muscled in the air, some wasted long passes and lucky not to have conceded late penalty)
Doyle 5 (missed header leading to first goal and that was one of many. Did some decent work second half but looks very weak in the air)
Bidwell 6 (didn't provide much going forward but defensively okay)
Sheaf 7 (some wayward bits but also brilliant ball for Gyokeres goal and some important tackles)
Hamer 7 (always looking to create, has clearly worked on his discipline and wonderful goal)
Allen 6 (absent first half but much more involved second, taking up good positions enabling two decent shots on target)
Godden 7 (worked tirelessly, set Gyokeres away with early chance and won numerous aerial duals)
Gyokeres 7 motm (some brilliant work with the ball, causing them problems throughout but should have had 3 goals first half. Took his one well)

Panzo 6 (better in the air than Fadz and Doyle today and looked decent progressing forward)

Thought Tavares pace would have caused them problems if brought on last 15. Think we could have won it with fresh legs.

Not to do with ratings as such, but re: your point about Doyle - I'm sure that last season on the Sunderland forum (he was there on loan) someone posted some stats about the percentage of aerial challenges he won. It was scarily low. He is talented with the ball at his feet.

I thought Vik was mom first half, and Sheaf was immense in the second half; he does so much ugly stuff for us.

Wilson - 6: Looks so uncomfortable but couldn't have done much about the goal. Distribution is poor.

Dabo - 4: Could have been lower. First half was atrocious. Looked so much better in the second.
Doyle - 5: Some great defending at times but like the rest, struggled at times to handle their long ball.
Fadz - 4: Age starting to show.
Rose - 4: Didn't fancy it!
Bidwell - 6: Really starting to step up now. Still find him weak in the final third but he's willing to get stuck in, unlike most.

Sheaf - 7: Everywhere.
Hamer - 7: Still not at his best but certainly signs that he was more up for it. Still looks a little big around the waist.
Allen - 6: Love the energy and the effort but I can't help but think we need more quality if he's playing more forward. For a little lad, he threw himself about.

God - 6: Held the ball up better than I've ever seen but like with Allen, I also think he's a player lacking that additional quality on the ball.

Gyok - 6: Generally brilliant but knocked down a couple due to the missed chance. He has missed a hatful of those now.

Robins - Too stubborn. They were as bad as us in defence and the space in behind was huge. Tav/Walker would have been a great option later on. Also surprised he didn't put on Palmer for the extra physicality.

Bidwell will always be average in good team or a bad team. We need a good team to make his average look OK. Allen will always be a league 1 player. Dabo is a lower championship player but right now not even that. Mcfadzien passed it and two iffy keepers.

Wilson 5 Actually loled at his kicking at times

Dabo 5 Pathetic first half, would have been subbed if we had any depth, but much better second half
Rose 5 Ineffectual again
McFadzean 5 Played best as a LW in the first half which tells you all you need to know. Dominated by Morris
Doyle 6 Fair play for dealing with the switch to RCB
Bidwell 6 Solid and unspectacular as usual. Think we miss Maatsen

Sheaf 7 MOTM Only consistently classy player in the side
Hamer 6 Still off the pace but a few moments of true class just about lets him get away with it
Allen 6 Lots of energy makes him an obvious manager’s favourite but he made little impact

Gyokeres 7 Luton defence could barely cope with him, if only he could finish more than half his one-on-ones
Godden 6 Worked very hard but not his night

Panzo 6 A bit showy for my liking as a CB but we looked a lot more comfortable with him there then Rose

Our lack of depth is truly terrifying, but if that first XI can stay healthy and add O’Hare into the mix then I think we can survive.

Contrary to most I thought Fanky was ok. Didn't start great but some good runs and crosses and got stuck in. Sheaf, Bidwell or Vik motm. Hamer I was moaning at saying when was the last time he hit the target with a long range effort ... directly before he scored. Jamie Allen was woeful again and needs to be dropped. Palmer or Waghorn should have replaced him for at least last 15 and Walker for Godden who was knackered and a bit lost. Panzo looked more assured than Rose who's injury could be a blessing. Time to bring Moore back in goal too and I'd love a Fadz replacement but we don't have one so have to hope he steps up again soon.

He averaged around 53% of Aerial Duels Won last season & is at 55% in this.
Worth noting though that is a higher % of Aerial Duels than all of Rose, Panzo & even Hyam so far this season. Only Fadz has a better % but from far less Duels.
He also wins far more Ground Duels than all of the others.

I said prior to his signing that I was slightly concerned by his lack of physicality but actually he's done far better than expected.

I was terrified when Adebayo got down the side of him (and on his weaker side too) but he actually shrugged him off the ball with relative ease due to his reading & timing. He's far from perfect at just 18 but he's doing better than anticipated I think.

An enjoyable old school game.

Wilson - every game he does something that should cost a goal. His kicking was atrocious and the less said about the one he got lucky with the better.

Rose - hard to criticise when those around him were so poor and he didn’t do anything individually bad

Fadz - it’s not his fault. He shouldn’t be as heavily relied upon but he’s looking worryingly past it. That second goal was bad. Improved second half

Doyle - dealt with the switch well. Composed on the ball. Has sheaf-esque qualities.

Dabo - first half was an absolute horror show. Much improved last 20

Bidwell - another solid but unspectacular showing. Decent set pieces

Sheaf - another good performance and the assist was phenomenal

Hamer - below par but made up for it with a bit of magic

Allen & Godden - both run around a lot and can’t fault their effort but they’re so ineffective in build up play, largely passengers which mean we basically “go long to Vik and hope” is our tactic. It’s worrying.

Gyokeres - superb, stand out player with Sheaf. Stood out like a sore thumb in first half for being a one man battering ram. Wasteful with chances though.

Panzo - looked better when he came on. Maybe rose injury will help us stumble on a back line.

Robins - how tired are our players going to be if we make 0 subs (not including injuries) every game in the 8 games in October

Must be my mind playing tricks,or it may have been one specific game. Not knocking the lad, as you can see he has ability, and I would always prefer a player who is comfortable on the ball to a hoofball merchant.

You can see Doyle has something about him. He's only 18 and he's come in and been pretty impressive. He's comfortable on the ball, made some great tackles as well.

His potential is huge, panzo the same. I think Doyle will go on to be a very good player

It’s far from ideal having them both literally learning on the job. But if they can come on quickly with the ridiculous amount of games ahead it could make for a decent partnership.

The defence and keeper situation is a major issue - Wilson looks like an accident waiting to happen, whether it’s giving away a goal, penalty or getting himself sent off - the defending is on par with Sunday League at times.
Other than Bidwell and possibly Kane, none of them are Championship standard players.

Missed the first 20 minutes so it was 1-2 when I started watching thought the rest of the first half we were generally second best all round but picked up second half and just about worth a point but we need to be better, not sure the three at the back works anymore but what’s the alternative, although he improved second half Dabo as an out & out right back not sure and who would be our two CBs.

Not just your ratings but I am amazed by most of the scores for Allen and Godden both of whom did virtually nothing. I don't see how you can give Gyokeres the same score as Godden and Doyle and Bidwell are way too low.
