Was there any genuine interest from Huddersfield? I mean he started well enough?

Give Walker a go at Bristol up front with Gyokeres. Godden looking like he needs a rest

Not many players like him in this league , quite a unique individual In modern football , there were plenty of viks in the 90s and 00s , not so much anymore
Brilliant player

Can’t recall many chances laid on for him this season tbf. The tactic so far has been give it to Vik who has licence to go for goal every time.

With Palmer getting up to speed and/or COH coming back into the side I’d expect him to see a few more created for him.

If he isn’t being tee’d up then all he really offers is making space for Vik.

I am worried about godden. He's served us really well but he looks to have lost even more pace, and even worse, agility. That offside chance in the second half where someone shot, can't remember who and it bounced back to godden. Yes it was behind him but it was like watching a 45 Yr old try and twist his body into position.

He's a MR fav though so he won't be dropped.

Godden is a player it seems only scores in short bursts of 6 or 7 games then a blank spell follows.
At the moment it's a blank spell so put walker in .

He’s always been an offside merchant, Bakayoko had a song about being offside when Godden was caught offside more than him.

As a striker though, people are expecting him to put in the same shift as Gyokeres but he is simply not that player. Give him chances, he will score them. The return of COH will see Godden score more.

Being brutally honest, did he ever have the required pace for this level? Gyokeres has missed even more chances but unlike Godden can create more out of nothing. Godden is still hands down the best finisher at the club. Why hasn’t he scored more? Great lack of chances.

Watch when CoH is back how much it changes for God. He is that striker who thrives on the cute through ball, splitting the defence, one touch finish. We aren’t playing like that at the moment because of personnel, godden is dropping in which is why time after time Vik has the chance to run in behind.

He’s doing a fantastic job for the team.

Walker is woeful and should be nowhere near the team, couldn’t cut it for us, dropped down a division and couldn’t cut it.

Not at all, just plays a different role to o’hare. Weird take from my post

Well if you play both you have one striker? So you drop Gyokeres?

Not sure the people who come up with those songs actually carry out any statistical analysis before cobbling together their inane lyrics mate.

Or they both play a role within the same game but not necessarily at the same time…? Like maybe o’hare starts and palmer comes on. It’s called a substitution mate, give it a google

Or you could play them both and play one striker? Our results have been good with one striker.

Especially when away from home.

I was watching Godden a lot today. He works bloody hard, not just the clinical finisher. He hasn’t got blistering pace, but he never did. I don’t think it works with Vik as a partnership. Godden needs to be fed, and without O’Hare, Hamer and Palmer (up until today) he’s not going to get those passes. Vik is great, and makes chances on his own, but he’s not passing when he’s anywhere near the box.

I think we may end up only playing one of the strikers when O'Hare is fit again, partnering either Allen or Palmer.

With less creativity in the midfield and Gyo tending to hold the ball up and run at defenders to create his own chances, Gidden's scoring opportunities have been more limited this season. Maybe he does unseen work (whereas with Gyo could can see him fighting for the ball etc.) but the effective thing he brings to the team is scoring chances, and he's not really getting opportunities to do that.

So I could see him being used as an impact sub (if MR ever decides to use any).

Interested to see how Palmer and COH will work together, even if we do change to the box. Not sure I’d go for it.
That's my interest actually to see if they play together ,they do different jobs so if given a chance think it will work as Palmer will hopefully take the pressure off COH.

Exactly this as Hobo has also suggested above.

Both Matty and Vik in my view are best in the lone striker role - and I can't wait to have the box formation back with Vik starting and Matty rotating.

Some on here have a weird obsession in completely writing players off after a couple of performances.

Godden is hopeless as a loan striker and we’d then be in an absurd position of having 4 strikers on the bench or totally out the squad

Going to be brilliant to see them play together this season; I also think that Kelly is going to play a big role for us this season.

On a completely different note - good to see Robins far more upbeat post match - as he says - the season starts here.

You’ve just admitted that he’d end up being back up in that formation - Vik is light years ahead of him ability wise and as a lone striker.

Who would you drop from the 11 to enable Kelly to play a big role?
