Wasn’t the whole project doomed to be forever burdened with debt when the development cost was drastically higher than the complex was (and is) worth? Was the initial concept of a stadium the Council’s project or CCFC’s, and whose thinking was at fault? I recall Bryan Richardson boasting that it was going to be a huge thing along the lines of the Amsterdam Arena, and then it had to be scaled back and bailed out. If a lot of financial mess got dumped on the Council (and the charity) how was the ‘silly debt’ supposed to vanish? Again, genuine questions and I don’t mind being wrong.

I'd hazard a guess that not one single person alive or dead has any clear idea why the Gasworks Ground turned out to be the mega shitshow it's become.
