Remember when people were calling him lazy?

Waghorn also unlucky to miss out recently after a good hour v Preston, but he too showed his class with that drop of a shoulder and his experience late on to see us over the line invaluable.

Loved the aggression but beyond a couple of crowd-pleasing tackles, I’m not sure he had much impact on the game, certainly not going forward. For what we’re paying him we need more of a return - maybe it’ll come when he plays alongside O’Hare, who knows.

It's a fair point but I actually think it's really under appreciated how important match fitness is for creative players. In terms of things like ball striking technique, making a pocket of space, and picking eye of the needle passes etc. that split second bought by optimal movement is absolutely key and I hope we start to see his improved match fitness translate into those kind of events soon!

Couple of big tackles early on. Has a good physical presence. Getting there.

When he signed one thi gI wasn't expecting from him was the crunching tackles! Great to see, froze a bit when he had that chance near the end but good cameo apart from that.

I think bringing him in slowly isn't a terrible idea as he gets to match fitness.
Do you think it's still fitness that's seeing him on the bench? I really like what i've seen from him so far but have started to presume that Robins is keeping him out for tactical reasons, maybe feels Allen/Eccles are more disciplined when he needs a defensive performance? It can't be his commitment anyway, he's definitely willing to get involved!

Yeah. I thought that chance was begging for him to fake the shot/drop the shoulder/do a bit of his usual trickery to send keeper and defender the wrong way.
As you say, he appeared to freeze a bit.

He was taken off after about 60 mins in the Burnley game so could have been carrying something.

Gonna be some red cards this year between Hamer and Palmer with Palmer's aggressive style.

To be fair I'm making an assumption it's fitness. I wouldn't have thought if it was more about discipline he would have bought him on when trying to protect a lead?

I've said it before but I'm really looking forward to seeing Palmer and O'Hare play behind Gyokeres. I think they will be a right handful together.

I am struggling to work it out too. You'd think he was pretty fit by now and doesn't give the impression during games where he starts that's he's seriously struggling. It does concern me a bit that a player we've apparently invested heavily in (wage-wise) doesn't currently seem to be integral but as the season wears on we'll see if it's a temporary thing while he gets up to speed or not. I like what i've seen from him too which does deepen the mystery a bit.

This will be an unpopular opinion going by the ratings thread tonight but….I don’t see what he’s offering this team.

Having an AM who’s apparently prepared to come off the bench and throw himself around into diving tackles is fun, but I’m yet to see him take control of a game or even open things up much for us.

I could just copy and paste the opening post
The guy is terrific but maybe MR sees him as a last half hour impact sub
I think today was always going to be a hard game. I'd also not change a winning side. Did well when he came on again.

Love the aggression he brings to the team. Absolutely nailed that Sheffield player with a slide tackle when it was on their right hand side

He's only going to get better and offer more, think he needs a goal just to help him relax a bit
