Just excellent from fadz 9.5
Gus one goal one assist much better performance (controlled aggression) 9.0
Eceles good game . system worked better when he and Gus swopped positions 8.5
Palmer is getting to grip with his career , looking strong and positive, as we improve he will , the sort of player who will grow as the team does 8.5.
Ben Wilson, your defenders are making life to easy for you. Just keep telling them what to do and pick up those silly shots . 8.0 steal the rest of your points off fadz and panz ( if you dare).

Let’s not get carried away - the first half was abysmal. Two bits of Hamer magic won us three points. Much like Sheff Utd, a draw would have been more than fair.

Defensively we were solid as a rock though.

McFadzean 9
Rose, Panzo & Hamer 8
Rest 5

Wilson 8

Didn’t have much to do, distribution not the best but seems to be on his toes when needed and gets out well. Clean sheet gets him an 8

Panzo 7

Tracked back and covered well. Didn’t get forward but that might have been an instructional tactic. Kept his opponent out.

Fadz 8

Headed and blocked everything. He’s old and needs to get a hearing test - can’t hear the goalie it seems. Couple of times he kicked it out for corners / throws when Wilson was on hand to pick up. That said - we’d be lost without him.

Rose 6

Great defending but his passes were all over the circus. Many times straight to an opponent which caused another wave of attack. In some ways lucky that he didn’t cost us something. Needs to calm down and look up sometimes or if rushed just bang it forward.

Dabo 6

Better than of late but still not the old Fanky. A few wayward passes and daft kicks into touch. Shadowed back well though. Possibly worth a 7 but…..

Bidwell 7

Bidwell did well, looked a poor signing last season but now looks worth his place. Some nice crosses and passes and tracking back and covering.

Eccles 7

Still think he needs a season in L1 to toughen up and get some streetwiseness (is that a word). Has some talent and did ok. Can’t recall him doing a lot wrong.

Palmer 7

Gets about the pitch better now and can dribble out as well as anyone. Does that thing that often “skilful” players do when we lose the ball - jog back rather than sprint. Charge back man, if we counter you’ll be offside FFS. That said - good performance overall.

Allen 8

Gets an extra mark for that finish. Busy. Hope the goal gives him confidence to shoot from the edge of the box from now on rather than pass to a worse placed player ) which he normally does).

Hamer 10

Originally typed 9 but at the end of the day, 1 great assist, 1 worldy and 0 bookings. That’s a 10.

Gyok 8

His movement and strength pulled the defence all over. No one knows where he’s going to be - one minute inside left, then outside right then bullying the centre backs. This play totally pins back opposing defenders because they can’t risk getting forward and they have to put 2 or 3 on him. Easy to give him a 7 because he didn’t score (although he did I’d say) but the thought in his play means we can play him without a strike partner and play the box for midfielders to come in and score, like they did today. It’s a shame for Godden but if anything (Gyok remains fit fingers crossed) we will do better 1-5-2-2-1.

Subs

Kane n/a
Waghorn 6 - ok - wise - ran well.
O’Hare 8 - because we love him

Dabs , controlled and positive never out of place today, great game. 8.0

Allen , you know what your buying into with Jamie Allen, work, work, work , 10 mins sleep, repeat, great goal, well deserved massively under rated , but magnificent performance today. 8.00
Panz, gets better all the time, looked at his match preview, seemed happy with his surroundings which makes him happy and looks like he's beginning to enjoy being a good footballer again. 8.0 (need to sign him asap )
Biddy, tough bloke, glad we have him, he's a great defender . Solid performance again. Careful you might just become player of the season, you've taken your time so why not. 8.0
Rosey , take a breath, put a bit more weight behind the pass out, make sure vik KP Allen ect are on your radar, defending was great against big mobile attackers , well done mate 8.0.
Vik, your not going to score Evey game , but your a big Sweed and I'm glad your on our side. EVERYONE is scared of you, and they should be too,
Kill em vik just be you,it will come when to pass and when to shoot , but I wouldn't swop you for stokes whole squad. 8.0

Reckon I was at a different match to most of these scores.
First half we were useless couldn’t keep the ball couldn’t pass to one another.
Second half much better but we’re delusional if we think there were 9,s and 8’s on that performance.
Great to win when you don’t play very well.
Eccles was no better than a 5 in my opinion.

I thought Michael Rose had a solid game defensively. Hope he pushes on now and becomes that 7/10 that Hyam was every week.

Fadz and Bidwell played incredibly well , obviously Hamer 2 moments of magic catch the eye as they won us the match ...
If he plays like a proper midfielder every game, which he is more than capable of, surely even Robins can overlook the odd indiscretion from him... his through ball and goal were both pieces of class and the elf done well too...

I agree, a lot of the scores are coloured by a good 20 minutes spell and a win. That being said I'm going to give a couple of 8s and 9s myself!

Wilson 6 - Actually had next to nothing to do, but didn't also do much wrong. A couple of terrible clearance, and shanking one into touch with no pressure was quite the achievement. Playing long every time in the first half didn't help us either, whether that was by instruction or not.

Dabo 5 - stuck to his task defensively, but was no outlet, also some odd positioning a couple of times. Seems to have lost the confidence to even try his one trick of the stepover when going forward just atm.

Rose 7 - terrible, absolutely terrible distribution first half invited pressure. Did an excellent defensive job though, especially second half.

McFadzean 8 - continues to defy age, one top clearance hooked away, although it was his error that invited the pressure.

Panzo 7 - also shonky on the distribution, but did keep Stoke's crosses at bay. Finding it hard to mark Rose and Panzo as I thought they were poor in many respects and invited their own pressure that they had to mop up, but you can't argue with a clean sheet.

Bidwell 6 - he's been an outlet this season but wasn't today. Defensively solid. Both full backs however let Stoke get a lot of crosses in and invited pressure, be it tactically from Robins or their own decisions.

Eccles 5 - thought he was poor today, and unlike some of the others didn't improve in the second half. He does seem to struggle with confidence at times, so hopefully a run of games will make him believe he has a right to be there.

Hamer 7 - poor first half, came alive second half. Bonus point for goal but, although a couple of pieces of magic show why he has to play, the first half showed why he plays for us just atm and not a better team.

Allen 9 - I just don't get why he's everybody's boo boy on here. First half he was the best player for us, and the only midfielder making runs (Palmer did have played him in first half), along with one sublime pass and some quick feet. Second half great run for the goal. Normally he's better deeper, but today it was the other way around and he shrank back when moved deeper. Game was dead then though. Bonus point for the goal.

Palmer 7.5 - he has class and a good touch. Too distant from the holding midfielders first half, but what is a pleasant surprise is how hard he works to chase down and harry. He's no O'Hare in that respect, but he's not the luxury casual stroller we were led to expect.

Gyokeres 5 - hard to mark really as it was a thankless task he was given. Didn't hold the ball on the few occasions it came to him first half, although Wilson punting everything long didn't help - Gyokeres may be strong, but the long ball doesn't suit him

Waghorn 6 - some nice touches, but I think a January move would suit him and us. Not sure where he gets game time when everybody is fit.

O'Hare 7. Nice shot, and looked on it from the start. Bonus point for being back

Robins 7. Has gone pragmatic, set us up for being hard to break down given where we are in the table. I think we've been lucky the past couple of games but, how often were we unlucky last season? Hopefully we can loosen the strings a bit soon.

Hamer and McFadzean were outstanding. How can you mark Hamer as a 7? Two pieces of Premier League quality for the goals and his overall play was consistently high. What more could you possibly expect from a defender than McFadzean did yesterday. Both were a 9 at least.

Allen was great too. Probably the best display I have seen from him.

Gyokeres looked tired but a 5 is harsh in my view given he was isolated a lot of the time.

Great to see O'Hare back but to mark him the same as Hamer yesterday is ridiculous.

If it makes you feel better mate , I like Allen, and I'm sure the headache for Robins begins now with the players we have available
Indeed. Better to have a choice over who's the best, rather than least worst!

Worth repeating though, the argument is never whether Hamer is the better footballer, is it, it's whether Allen has a place in the first team squad and, IMNSHO, he does. It also, whether Hamer's the better footballer or not, and whether he upped his game in the second half or not, doesn't alter that Hamer was terrible in the first half yesterday!
