Think it would have been very difficult to justify to the rest of the squad just after forcing Hyam out of the door on the cheap. Also not sure how you'd have reacted to him inevitably scoring against us in the corresponding fixtures

The interest was last day of August - we have a player whose never going to play more than 50% of games in a season and has a year to go after this season we could have recovered our fee - it’s very poor

Yes so no chance to replace him, left with the unwanted Waghorn and Walker, popular figure removed and sold to a fellow relegation contender.

I’m not sure it’s as straightforward as you suggest.

so he remains for another 18 months on I assume a healthy wage which could be used elsewhere. He and Kelly have been poorly dealt with.

But you can see where I'm coming from?
I think the issue with this is, I think Grendal has a point, it seems like bad business. If we could recover the transfer fee for a player of his age with a bad injury record and turned it down. BUT (and it's a big but) you are also correct in that it would have caused massive uproar from our fanbase that we had sold a very popular player, last minute with very little time to reply. As a fanbase (I am sure every other club has the same) we will love to moan one way or the other. It's exactly the same with refs. People say 'I just want him to let the game flow, stop breaking it up' when fouls are given against us, but the moment the exact same tackle goes in against us and the ref doesn't give it 'dirty bastards and the ref is clearly on their side'.
TL: DR - football fans are irrational.

No he wouldn’t have been.
Waghorn is 10 times the player even now and still offers us more than Biamou ever did who was one of the meekest strikers I’ve seen play for us.

Do you know what meek means? You could say a lot about him but he wasn’t meek. Any judgement of Biamou from a technical standpoint has him falling short. But he was a good athlete and a physical presence, who worked hard.

I’m not arguing he was at the level required aa we improved, but the criticism is fucking odd. He scored a legendary goal for us, and even managed to bag a few important goals for us in the championship, when we were struggling.
