I didn’t know and searching “Mike Ashley Wasps” is useless. Glad we can rule it out. That really would be the worst timeline.

Mate, in fairness I wouldn't want to claim to be 100%, but given how insular and small the rugby world is, and how high profile MA is, I can't believe he wouldn't have been noticed at any ground had he turned up. He doesn't seem big on being incognito! (Also is literally too big to be incognito, perhaps).

Also, if he had real affection for Wasps, there have already been a couple of chances for him to get involved as a buyer/investor.

I stand to be corrected of course, but MA as a secret Wasps fan would genuinely surprise me.

From Ashley's point of view his best outcome is to buy us now or before January because?
Someone is paying some serious money to keep our games on. If it is Ashley I would guess it would be because of what is best for our club. No immediate plans to keep the games on and I would think differently.

With our recent form it shows we are capable of putting runs together. It wouldn't take too much investment this season to give us a really decent chance of promotion. So a few more millions to SISU to have a chance a year earlier of promotion?

Isn't it strange that the game was only confirmed as going ahead just the day before and straight after the game administration was confirmed?

Yes I might be reading too much into it. But why would he want a football ground but not a football club?

It was only confirmed at the last minute as the worry was the business would fall into liquidation which would have prevented the game taking place

You literally said our transfer embargo and HRMC issues are “a pretty standard thing”. Fine if you actually believe that, but it’s right out of the Shugs playbook.

You can dry your eyes, people will stop liking my posts taking the piss out of you soon.

I am heartbroken to be totally honest.

Yeah, I said the payment plan with HMRC is a standard thing that is fairly common. I didn't say our finances are all rosey and amazing.

Agree with this and said something similar before. We are in the championship, have players of value and although loss making costs appear under control ish.

Throw in the opportunity to get hold of the stadium and it should be/should’ve been the time when a sales gets done
I also said previously that they were unlikely to buy the stadium themselves. Just wait for someone who wants the club to buy it and sell the club to them.

It all just makes too much sense not to happen. It’s just just our CCFC getting fucked over paranoia kicking off.

So off the top of your head which other clubs in our division recently went into a transfer embargo because of failures to pay HMRC?

And also, we're assuming Ashley wants to get back into football. Things might have changed since Derby for him. I still think he will get us and the Arena is just a pre-cursor but think it's dangerous to automatically assume he wants back into football.

Not an unfair point SBWM, but it doesn't seem an unreasonable assumption based on his past behaviour.

Would ACL as a business without the club really be of interest to him though, is there anything in his past that suggests he's suddenly up for Arena/Entertainments as a business? Could be mate, but he's competing against some pretty big players if so.

Also see Ron Noades, Firoz Kassam, Sam Hammam etc as 'football mad' owners who've ended up owning grounds but no club.

Firoz Kassam did own Oxford at one point. Sold them but kept the stadium. Hence why Oxford want a new stadium with no links to him.

As he is a property developer he mainly wanted the only manor ground for housing.

Have a look through the thread, plenty of people saying it's a pretty common thing in the UK and will be sorted by the time we need to be able to make transfers.

Feel free to point out where I said our finances are rosey though.

Typical journalist trying to spin and make shit up.

For the same reasons the NEC wanted to?

But the NEC have a background in events and exhibitions, and are on the doorstep. Synergy, to use a buzzword.

Where's MA's background in that business, and what are the chances that he's suddenly more interested in it than football?

So you can’t name any other clubs who’ve had this very standard, common financial problem then?

What if HMRC "blindside" us, like they suddenly did to Wasps, eh. 😄

I haven't looked to be honest, maybe you can? I just provided information saying it is a common thing for businesses in the UK. Still, keep moving the goalposts.

Charity bet offer is still there though?

He’s interested in making money

So he ended up owning a ground but no club...

Yeah but he dint buy the ground first. Basically wanted the land. the club was just a minor inconvenience to him.

Oxford have it pretty bad. I know a few seasons ago they made little to no money from F&B and could only gain access to the ground like 4 hours before kick off.

I guess you should allways be worried about someone if they name the stadium after themselves

No one’s confirming it though
Why would they?

Nobody trusts CCC so the less they know the better. Plenty of reasons why no side would admit to talks.

So is there any reason why they would admit to talks or an agreement about our club?

Different situations though weren’t they. All those owned the club and the stadium, plunged loads of cash in then took the stadium as a way of paying themselves back.
Not really, the grounds were always the priority for all three, the opportunity to claim the grounds were only possible by owning the football club.

But divesting themselves of the club was a no brainer whenever possible.

Teh safe option is pop your money in the property, really.
