You watch the positions he takes between the lines, they're decent.
As for the Shipley thing, if he wasn't taking up the positions in the press Robins wanted him to he wouldn't be in the team.
How do people not realise this about Robins?
As Evo said, made captain last game too.

And Robins has also publicly praised his technical ability... unless you think being a good technician was praise because he fixed the manager's boiler one day!

And betterdays made a point of saying how much Viveash rated Allen, and was on at Robins to play him more the first season we got promoted.

One big part of Allen's 'purple patch' that doesn't seem to have been mentioned, is the return to the box and not having to play a lone AM role behind two strikers. That's no coincidence.
Errm ;)

Fair, and all the more frustrating when he's one of the few who can bridge the gap between midfield and attack, and run beyond the forwards. That being said, this season he's been better at that - maybe the system / Palmer suit him more?

I mean, it was implied not explicit, but...

Robins and Adi must real rate lots of running!!

Haha , fair but what an example to use
Well it was to illustrate the point.

Running is just one element of the game. You need players who do it, so Allen has been useful for us this season and last.

Plenty of players don't rely on running a lot. Dion Dublin for example wouldn't have covered the distance that Allen does but he was a better player.

He won more in the air as well.

I'd also make a punt (and we'll see if we ever get the chance to compare long term!) that Allen will look better playing alongside Palmer than playing alongside O'Hare.
Sometimes certain combos of players just click though and I do think the Great Dane (/Swede) with his two Chihuahuas either side of him can cause a lot of teams problems, especially if we are set up to counter attack.

The cock and balls formation I've called it.

You wouldn't expect him to do so as often as Palmer and O'Hare but he should be contributing more than he does. Yes he is a defensive midfielder but I think he has only scored in one game for us? And how many assists has he had.

I rate him but this season until last week he has been poor, even defensively. His lack of pace is also a serious weakness which is why I don't think he will ever play at a higher level.
4 assists

Why ? We should beat these with or without Allen playing , that on the pitch tonight is our strongest midfield on paper

they’ve lost 5 out of 6 haven’t they? They will be well down on confidence

Only just caught up with this thread. Can't believe anyone could think sheaf isn't in our full first choice 11 in the box, even if slightly off form.

Absolutely class again tonight, always seems to have an extra second on the ball than other players. Sign of a great player.

with regular game time he appears to have cut that lapse in concentration he was prone too when he first started getting into the side. One of the first names on the team sheet for me along with Mcfadz + Hamer + Vik

I love the way his balls out to the wing backs curl round and set them up for the forward run.

It's such a simple thing but he seems to be the only one properly bending it round the midfielder and giving it to them facing the goal, everybody else plays it to feet.

Yeah it's just a shame our wing backs have no idea what to do with it
