Agreed but also makes Southgate look daft now for not including him in any of the warm-up squads. How is he supposed to be up to speed with the tactical setup etc.? The whole handling of him (and others given the leaks) is very odd.

Phase 2 is complaining he isn’t at least on the bench. Complaining he didn’t start is phase 3. Followed by phase 3 he come on too late to have an impact. Followed by phase 4 he come off too soon. And then phase 5 what was the point of putting him in the squad if you’re only going to have him warming a seat. And then phase 6 what was the point of putting him in the squad if you weren’t even going to put him on the bench.

You’re overlooking a wealth of opportunities here.
