So Reeves aka CCC was secretly conniving to mount a £60 million bail out of Wasps, who by then were in debt to the tune of over £100 million, and a failing outfit. It really beggars belief.

Can’t help but feel that SG releasing the story that Labour councillors were having a behind closed doors meeting regarding Wasps, the threat of a protest outside, heat on social media and people writing immediately to their councillors was enough to put enough Labour councillors off backing a financial bailout for Wasps so it became a non starter.

I guess we’ll never know for sure but what is clear is senior members of the council were at least toying with the idea.

Any chance that this will be the point they realise Richardson doesn't have some great love for Wasps and is just in it for himself.

Reeves told The Times that Coventry City Council had engaged in “very bona fide conversations” with Hottinger about its proposal. “We were interested. If it had got through on approval at the Wasps board, we would have gone to the Council,” he said. “It would have had a fair chance. If they had said: ‘Yes, the board really likes it’, we would have moved on to the next stage.”

Interesting.

Surely if what Duggins says is even vaguely true then Reeves is out of a job

You have the leader saying absolutely no intention ever and then the CEO actively proposing it to Richardson and quoting it has a good chance of going through.

How is it even possible?

Can anyone remove the paywall on this?

There’s an interesting line on the Twitter thread about the council providing funding to Wasps but cannot see it.

Apologies if this has already been posted.

I can't keep up with this thread!

The council up to their neck in it again, and also lying about it as well.

This thread caught up quicker than I could post, but that night they were emailing everybody back and denying anything was going on was obviously a cover up. They got found out and other than one or two who obviously blundered the memo, they went into overdrive in saying there weren't any meetings. I mean, that was a bit obvious in itself, but none of this stuff posted today surprises me at all.

Some of the officials in North Korea are more honourable than these pricks.

I've spoken to Derek since the club went into administration and I've never heard him sound so upset. He's always been a lovely, upbeat, and positive chap, with a genuine love for Rugby in general and Wasps in particular. To imply, as this article does, that he was happy to see the club go under because of a personal grudge is absolutely obscene. As things stand he is out of pocket by a vast amount of money.

If he says that there was nothing about this that suggested it was a genuine and compelling offer then that's good enough for me.

I'd love to know who on the board it was that decided that this was a story that should be in the papers.

He wasn’t saying he didn’t want to accept to let the club die. He said there were other offers which seemed more credible.

He didn’t believe the bid was genuine, apparently.

So why was the CEO of the local council involved and pushing it if it wasn't genuine?

If Reeves is directly involved with Ashely the club are f*cked.

Reeves should be investigated.
The bloke is seemingly bulletproof.

How he is anywhere near any takeover deal is laughable.
Take out anything to do with CCFC, Wasps or the stadium and there's still numerous things that have gone on at the council while he has been chief exec that should have seen him lose his job.
