Except there is no evidence that he will make the team more successful. And while Ashley would make more money out of owning the club, for the time being he doesn’t own it and I’m worried the continued split between the two is going to be damaging - why would either invest without the other?

Bit of land off the M6 is far more likely to make money than a Championship football club.

But the fact is we didn't lose to Notts County and we are in the Championship. You can't blame owners for what happened and what might have happened?

Not sure about Ashley.
On the one hand they were relatively successful before he bought them but didn't he find out there was >100m worth of debt that he didn't know about.
If thats the case he sort of did well, he eradicated the debt and got the club on an even footing for their big oil sale.
The thing is, once in the prem, with 50k per week they should be able to regularly push for top 8 and with a fair wind challenge for Europe. But they didn't.
From memory they actually used to spend decent money on players, Yohan Cabaye (spelling(?)) went there for over 20m way back when. 25m is good money now. My thinking is that there was no real strategy (pardew 7 year contract was about this time).
The squad that is operating at the top end has had money spent on it but the guts of it are what was left when they got bought ou who were seemingly hampered by having Bruce at the helm (again, no football nouse or strategy).
If he did take over now he's clearly got cash...
And I think behi the scene we must have good "football people" because look at what we've bought in for peanuts. You've got to think a bit of extra capitol could only help.

That piece of land by the M6 remains as scruffy and depressing as it was when the arena opened 17 years ago.
It's in the shadow of a major sporting and leisure complex, yet nobody wants to go near it.
A new hotel would provide very modest returns. Housing perhaps? There isn't much land to develop anyway. Can't see much happening for next 10 years tbh.

I imagine that the potential CCFC takeover blind sided Ashley last night and wasn’t the scrip Ashley had written for him. The ground hardly makes enough money for Ashley to excited about so it must be able CCFC. I can see it playing out that unless Ashley gets hold of the club the rent will be considerably higher moving forward.

It’s not really a leisure complex though is it? It could be, equally a better hotel could do it. Even something simple like a warehouse it’s well placed for. I don’t think the Arena has had an owner with the cash or chops to develop it. The council can’t do it, they rely on private investment, Wasps were a busted flush. Why not Ashley? He’s looking for a base of operations, who knows what he has planned?
But far more people make money from property than football at the end of the day. Football is a gamble you do for fun, not a serious business investment.

Whils't things are in a state of flux at the moment ,at least some things have improved over the last few weeks/ months. The stadium is no longer owned by Wasps, look how far they have fallen, their future is really bleak at the moment. When they owned the CBS, they were able to kick us out of our own changing rooms, something that needs changing ASAP. If King really is the club's new owner then hopefully it will be one of the first things he looks to do, as well as getting rid of anything Wasp related .

There is the point of why would Ashley pay for CCFC to continue playing at CBS if he wasn't interested in the club. He must be about to buy the club
I couldn't imagine MA giving CCFC a couple of 100 thousand to ensure they continue playing at CBS. He would lose that money in the long run and would never re-coup it unless he was after the club. Is it possible MA has given SISU an offer of x amount and in return SISU agreed to somehow rebalance the debts and walk away with a profit of some sorts?

When he took over the club we’re on a downward spiral, obviously any multitude of things can cause this and when it sets in it can take years to put the brakes on and steady things up, he increased spending including on wages but the rot and supporters apathy had well and truly set in.
Man Utd won 16 trophies between 2003 and 2013 yet only managed 3 more up to today ‘is that solely down to the owner or we’re other factors at play ?
If most supporters of other clubs wish Mike Ashley on their rivals (I’m really not sure most do ) then I would guess they’re easily manipulated into thinking that way

The face is we left Coventry twice. Our downward spiral started when we moved to Northampton. League 2 by 2017. How you say we can’t blame the owners for that is deluded.
As far as I'm aware Ashley has never stated he wants the club and I do not believe he has done one interview about any of this process. I believe, he is not shy of the camera so I cannot see him taking us on. It has been reported he wants his main offices to be near Coventry and part of what he has bought includes areas where he can develope. He is picking up a stadium for £17million which is a complete bargain, and is loose change for him. I really cannot see him putting in a bid.

he has had advisors at cov games. Look how much the arena is currently losing. Bad management? Yes but a businessman like himself will see our club is on the up. The football, the atmosphere. This club has the potential to be worth 100 mill this time next season.
Just because he hasn’t said anything on record certainly doesn’t mean he’s not interested in us

Looks like Ashley is all-in on anything he does. Maybe he will settle down one day? Thick skinned and probably pig headed. He was ahead of the game with the stadium. i guess he didn’t like losing with the Derby bid? I hope both he and King can thrash a deal out. This king bloke maybe they need to go to the Casino for a session?
edit: Having a football club/ hospitality wouldn’t do any harm for either of their businesses providing they see themselves As partners. King made an interesting comment about trusting Joy. We all know that trust is difficult to develop in this world of ‘Players’. That comment in itself was an open invitation to at least talk about the stadium. King did well there, if his blood flows with a bit of that then we may just be the winners in the next chapter. Hope so.

Gawd, politics of whether the press is right or left wing. I’d have said the press does as much as possible to question the government in power and comes over very anti C/UP. not saying they don’t deserve it. What a bizarre comment (the Newcastle getting into Europe regularly). Used to live there and can’t remember us doing well. In fact I remember them being third bottom of division 2. I have a massive soft spot for them.
