Just got a new job and want to celebrate, haven’t been out out for food in ages in Coventry.

Any recommendations of places that I’d be able to get a booking in tonight?

Was hoping for something meaty (sorry Otis) like Hickory’s but no tables. Steak house, burgers, BBQ that sort of thing.

Congratulations on the new job.

Pestos over Wolvey (Axe and Compass) way is lovely.

For something more central, and less 'chainy', the Town Wall tavern have a nice menu

Tried to convince the missus of this but she wasn’t sure. I’ve had Korean BBQ before though and loved it

How did I not see this!
If it’s remotely like a real one in Brazil you’d love it. Have 1 chip sir and here is 10 servings of cow with a few chicken hearts to have a rest between the cow

That is exactly what I was after today. Next time.

Artisan for a decent steak but usually you need to book in advance.

Forme & Chase in the Telegraph Hotel as well.

7 Bone is probably the best burger place in Cov imo. Their Poutine dirty fries are awesome.

Rodizio Rico is good. I've always found the meat to be decent, but you have to be on it with the waiters as they are quick to just cut you a couple of slithers and then move on. I've never felt I've gotten my money's worth there. Chicken hearts there are great though!

Smowkhaus in Leamington for the best BBQ food near Cov. So much better quality than Hickorys. Dick's Smokehouse in Bromsgrove is another brilliant BBQ restaurant.

Beat me to it, Jinseon is so good.

Golden Cross does really great food, and obviously the building itself is worth a visit.

Best burger around Coventry is Libertine in Leamington and Rugby.

What? You can get poutine in cov, how did I not know this
They’ve not had them on the menu for a little while due to supplier issues but that’s all sorted now.

Fantastic recommendations. My stomach thanks you, my doctor will not.

Not been to the 7Bone in Cov but first went to the one in Hove around 2017 and it was sensational. When I’ve been back over the last couple of years it’s always been disappointing.
Will give the Cov one a go over Xmas.

Well worth checking out Libertine Burger in Leamington and Original Patty Men and Fat Hippo in Birmingham if you are a burger fan.
OPM dirty fries are insane

During term time there's a food market on Warwick campus every Wednesday, one of the stalls is a poutine van. At some point my doctor is going to ban me from going near it

I don't know if there is a Greek restaurant in Coventry but we used to go to one & have a meat mezze platter and they would keep bringing out more meat. They did not like it when one of the girls we were with asked if we could have some more salad & vegetables.

There's Emmy's Pitta on Warwick Row. I can't recommend it yet as haven't been, but heard good things.
