Doug King Takeover (6 Viewers)

I don't quite understand what Storey thinks his case is to be honest. I think Ashley had been sniffing around longer than that, but just the stadium for the moment unfortunately.

So Storey thinks Sisu started negotiations with King during his exclusivity period. Sisu need to prove they didn’t. Ultimately he won’t get the club. Sisu won’t sell to him. So we need to wait for shenanigans to pass.

So he's just looking for some compensation (easy money) basically? Perhaps to help fund his takeover bid for the next club stupid enough to enter talks with the chancer.

He didn’t complete by the deadline agreed by himself and Sisu. So it seems like shenanigans. If Sisu can prove they didn’t enter negotiations with King until 8th Nov that’s all fine. King said 2 weeks ago which could just be for an interview.

Don't think there's a positive angle to this for us. Storey seems an absolutely lunatic. Everything he gets involved in seems to be a disaster and there's little evidence his drinks company has ever actually produced a drink. But as I said yesterday it does raise the question why do others keep getting involved with him.

Seems like the deal was going nowhere and King came in. Not sure if this makes it more or less likely he's connected to SISU. If Sepalla wants out and Ashely wants the club surely they'd be speaking and every indication so far is they haven't.

Seems to be a lot hanging on an off the cuff 2 weeks comment. That's not a particularly accurate phrase when people throw it around and for all anyone knows the first conversation was we can't talk until the exclusivity period with Storey is over.

Can't see Storey getting anywhere with this, Sepalla isn't going to sell to him just because he takes legal action, we all know that. So the most likely outcome is it delays the takeover and we end up selling players in January as Sepalla won't cover any costs on her way out

William Storey the man who blew smoke up the Mackems arse saying they were amongst the top 7 biggest clubs in the country. Great prospective owner. Needs to foxtrot oscar we've suffered with fools for too long as it is.

My guess is that its cleverly worded that Sepalla and Ashley haven't spoken. What's Hoffman's role in this and why was he at the court the other week when he stepped down from CBS months ago? I'd bet he is the intermediate for Ashley and that he has been speaking to SISU on Ashley's behalf.

Offered a pittance for the club, in true Ashley style. SISU decided to try and make it look like there's a lot of interest to drive up the price, by entering a period of exclusivity with someone. Storey was enough of a loon to get used like that. Meanwhile SISU were preparing to get Doug King in to help restructure some paper debt and make us more valuable for a sale than with 60 odd million paper debt hanging about while setting SISU up with 15% for a nice further pay off when Ashley gets us to the Prem.

Still over a month before then and an awful lot can happen. But I’m still amazed that she took Storey seriously enough to even consider his offer, never mind give exclusivity if that’s really what took place.

It’s not just the horses mouth though. I know we all like to make fun of local journalists but they do actually triangulate information with other sources and Gilbert who seems to have an inside track here has repeatedly said Ashley has been nowhere near the club and not shown interest.

Hoffman was probably there as a fan as much as anything else.

Just some cognitive dissonance with his earlier pursuit of Derby plus stadium mixed in with desperation for a change of ownership.

Why would the EFL intervene? If he thinks it is an issue for the courts then the EFL will let the courts deal with it..
I’d like to know if Storey would pass fit and proper test. Several liquidated companies and numerous late filings. Ok, not a disqualified director but the EFL need to raise the bar.

I stuck up for Joy recently but this again shows a lack of judgement on her behalf.

Signing something with someone with a history (that could only take 10 mins to check) of playing silly buggers and breaking deals, with no apparent wealth on paper (lunatics with no money don’t care if they are sued) is frankly, negligent. As custodian of the Club (a Company) she has a duty to the Club not to be a Wally.

Looks like she got led down a garden path whilst Ashley was getting the stadium for half value.

Joy! Get better advisors around you. Where was Fisher and Boddy in all this. Surely they could have done some digging.

Madness.

Like I said before, even when they’re at last pissing off, they still can’t get it right.

And that there is the problem.

Recent MP led inquiry into how Rugby has got into such a mess might lead to how “community asset” sports businesses are run.

Better governance required.

Still maintain: Name, badge, golden share should be owned by a fan trust (I know that word triggers a few) and they should lease it to owners.

An inside track at the council (sure Saddlebrains said they had the same source) but not with Ashley or the club. Why would Hoffman, as a 'fan of CCFC' go all the way to attend a court case to see if the stadium was going to Ashley or not. I'd find that as bizarre as anything else in this saga, without some level of personal interest in the outcome. He could have found out 10 minutes afterwards, same as the rest of us fans.

Because it suited Sepalla to make it look like there was a deal going through?

Nothing better to do? Same as Storey and King/Sisu had hoped it would fall apart and he could bid?

Gilbert doesn’t just have council contacts that’s ridiculous. Just today he’s verifying the Storey story, how would council contacts help with that? He clearly knows people at the club willing to talk off the record.

I’m certain that’s correct

Who at the club could actually verify something like that and be worth verifying it with? All sounded to me like the only info he’s had is from Storey himself, who appears very much a self publicist and limelight lover, hence the willingness to be interviewed. Doug King has vanished, SISU won’t talk because of NDAs. We’ve had almost nothing from the club apart from what they want us to hear.
