All got a bit catty hasn’t it? I actually thought Mattie Heaven would have something about her but looked useless as well. Caan could barely string a sentence together, Ridley just playing politics for likes, O’Boyle useless as well. The woman on about Spon End traffic seemed vaguely together but that was about it.

This is why we need to make councils actually worth something so someone vaguely competent tries to get elected. Half of them seem more interested in playing babies first House of Commons than actually governing or opposing TBH.

But at the same time if it's involved with law making should the electorate not have some sort of say over who is elected to it?

I agree that having a house filled with politicians is hardly a great idea, but at the same time it needs to be accountable to the public.

So what sort of halfway house could we have? Would a list of experts be proposed by the ruling bodies of professions and then the parties choose from those lists depending on the PV of the national vote? Although that sounds a bit like the US Supreme Court which is now fucked due to political ideology, though also highlights perfectly how experts aren't necessarily the solution.

Well if it’s professional bodies and unions they would.

And no I wouldn’t have the parties involved at all. As I say either fix the Lords for its intended purpose or throw it out.

Tories desperately want to paint him as continuity Corbyn, he’s going to be very cool on pro union stuff and pro nationalisation and we’re just going to have to lump it. Said this when Corbyn lost the GE, he tainted so much that there was always going to be an overcorrection.

Ultimately all you can do in opposition is position yourself unless there’s a big rift in the government benches.

Expect tough on crime, sensible finances, pro business to be the main thrusts until the GE. That doesn’t change who the MPs are and what they’ll vote for though. Just as Cameron’s hug a hoodie and love of polar bears didn’t mean anything. It’s just the cost of getting elected.

His main criticism of the new anti union laws was that they won’t stop the current strikes. Not that we already have the harshest anti union laws in the West and adding even more is a blatant attack on working people’s rights.
