Yeah… but the EU is dealing with corruption. It really isn’t the line of attack someone thinks it is when you look at the behaviour of our own government.
Lying to the queen to illegally prorogue parliament.
Lying repeatedly over partygate.
Writing off Covid fraud so their mates can get away with it.
The whole Dido Harding obsession with giving her a job she completely failed at costing the country £40B, or to put it another way a the cost of a fair pay rise for nurses for over 2 years. Still, you could always complain about that one. Who could you complain too? That would have been Dido Hardings husband.
I’m sure there’s much more I don’t recall too. There’s been so much.

However there's the alleged 'Fuck the families' quote at the 7/7 inquest and the 'fuck business' quote to a diplomat at some Brexit get together and a picture starts to build and it doesn't take much imagination to think the allegations are true, though as you say, we can't categorically say.

Hideous speech just now from Sunak on immigration. Highlights include reducing the threshold for modern slavery. This nationalism is appalling and dangerous.
It's quite clear this rhetoric is just designed to appeal to people to mask this Government's failures and them not resolving the strikes. But surely people won't vote for a party again just because they will be horrible to foreigners when they can't settle any of the industrial disputes. Impossible to travel anywhere by train, NHS, postal and other strikes. Times have changed and there are more important things than being mean to foreigners.
We have already spent £140 million on the Rwanda scheme. Wouldn't you prefer that money went to our NHS workers? Why won't this Government focus on the important things that matter to people?

Didn’t government and Downing Street staff collaborate the story before Cummings even mentioned it. Sure the Guardian and ITV News both broke the story, Cummings just agreed it was true and added he was in the room when it was said.

Exactly. Priorities have moved on but the Tories haven't. They won Brexit through the immigration rhetoric but I think most people are tired of it now. People are more concerned about heating their homes, getting fair pay, being able to get a train, and the NHS. Why care about immigration when you can't get an ambulance when you need it? Of course climate change should be number in priority and it will become so soon as conditions get more extreme in the coming years.

Mate. What do you want? You posted an example of the EU taking action against attempted corruption. You’ve been shown data that both the EU and the U.K. are the least corrupt places on Earth. It seems like you want your opinion unquestioningly parroted back to you.
If you’ve got a case to make, make it. Don’t just have a mad angry cry because people don’t immediately agree with you.

Ive just read the bbcs Sunak article (didn’t hear speech) and struggling to see the issue. clearing the backlog is good for everyone…the public and the claimants. At the moment we’re got a load of people who might have a valid/genuine claim who are stuck in limbo. we should also be trying to dissuade people who aren’t genuine asylum seekers from entering the country illegally not just because of the ridiculous holding costs involved but again, their claims are clogging up the system for genuine claimants.
What’s missing is an acknowledgment that there needs to be processing centres away from the U.K. where people can submit an asylum claim legally. Until the government has the balls to accept this we’ll continue with this mess

If it’s true that France, Germany etc are rejecting almost 100% of Albanian asylum seeker claims then no wonder so many are chancing their arm getting into the U.K. so we’ve got to look at our system. Net migration was 500k+ this year, that’s hardly anti immigration.

The Albanian issue is definitely down to ease of access here IMO, but as much ease of illegal employment due to no ID cards as anything else. People are going to always be able to cross borders illegally.
And backlog clearing is a noble cause, it’s ballooned recently.
The issue as I understand it is more the promise to not process people here when Rwanda has no capacity, and we have no deal with the French for returns.

I mean, just look at your reactions. I post something which shows there is corruption in the EU and all we get is Brexit, Tories, 'look how great they are for dealing with it efficiently', and as I said; sarcasm, denial, whataboutery, and emoji's. In reality, the only relevant brexit point here is that so many people voted to leave because of these kind of attitudes in the first place. A complete inability to critique (let alone acknowledge) any of the negatives of the EU sensibly.
If I had posted about a ring of Tories being corrupt (which frankly they can burn for as well), an interaction like this wouldn't be happening. It is just such a shame. There are some really intelligent people on here, but the inability to call out something shit because it's 'your side' is extremely frustrating and why no one else bothers to post in here any more. I'll leave it at that.

No, you got data. I honestly don’t think corruption is a problem in most western nations. It’s not a left-right thing, BSB and Tony said the U.K. was corrupt and questioned the data. I think they’re wrong too.
I can’t change my opinions to make you happier. Pick topics where idiverge from mainstream left thinking and well likely agree, I don’t believe in open borders, but I do believe in a working asylum system, but I also believe the best way to tackle illegal immigration is ID cards
I don’t believe most “wokery” is productive in reducing discrimination, I think there are two sexes and sex is immutable, I have criticisms of unions. The list is actually quite long.
If you go looking for binary black and white people you’ll find them. I just don’t think Brexit was a smart move or that the EU is some hyper corrupt superstate looking to make all our bananas straight or whatever. But I do think some EU law is silly, mostly around tech, I just don’t think we’ll change it by stepping out the conversation and having to take those laws by the back door thanks to how multinational companies work.
