Wilson 6

He’s a bit daft. Not a “brainy” player, his distribution and timing of when to release and to whom shows that. The number of times his poor choices put us straight back under pressure is many. Equally, missed opportunities to early release to create a counter. Is a Prem loanee an option?

Kane 6

Nothing special. Will always hit a defender legs with a cross. Chased back ok but just looks a bit off line.

Doyle 5

All over the show. Couple of good bits of play but looked like a young player - which is obviously understandable.

Rose 6

Best of the back 3 but as the senior link he needs to get a grip.

Panzo 4

WTF. Liability personified. Confidence shot and looked as worried as Andrew Tate today.

Bidwell 8

Plus 1 for goal. Otherwise steady.

Hamer 7

Some class play but from dead balls lacking. Best of the starting midfielders.

Allen 6

Couple of good runs and tracked back but he is out of his depth.

Palmer 7

Started off great. Faded. Should have kept him on and got Allen off instead.

Waghorn 4

Look. He’s just not good enough. Too slow and always on his heels pointing at f—- knows what rather than being on his toes. Watch back. You’ll see.

Gyok 8

Ran himself into the ground. They double up on him leaving space for other forward players - shame we had no one with any clue. Could have gone down a couple of times to Nick a pen.

Subs

Dabo 5

What has happened to him. He gets the ball and stands still hoping to outpace a defender from a standing start. Move man. Anyway. Poor.

Tavares 6

Quick, direct, impetuous. As above, Gyok draws defenders leaving space. Tavares had opportunities.

Sheaf 7

In the old days didn’t they have a shot of something strong before they went on? Sheaf needs a couple of wee drams. He still panics at the key moments. Get him a hip flask.

Wilson - 5 - sometimes catches when he should punch, sometimes punches when he should catch, often doesn't release the ball early when that would be nice and instead kicks it out of play. A look at the assured confidence of the Bristol keeper today is basically an example of the basics I ask for in a keeper.

Rose - 7 - I have been critical of him on here before because generally, I don't think he's anywhere near as good as what some on here believe and I've felt that way since watching him in League 1. However, he's been decent last few games, my only criticism is he should really be the leader in that back 3.

Doyle - 5 - Fair few mistakes today, but he's young and learning so forgiveable. Mate, you're decent enough on the ba but don't be thinking you should be taking freekicks instead of Hamer. You definitely shouldn't.

Panzo - 4 - Poor today, just daft mistakes. Probably tired. I like him, he's very classy on the ball and brings the ball out of defence well usually. Just daft passes today and getting caught dawdling when pressed.

Allen - 4 - Defended him a lot. Poor today. If you're going to be the engine and the player that does the dirty work you have to get that right and he often didn't today. There are plenty of players his stature that don't get pushed off of the ball as easily as him.

Hamer - 7 - Largely very good in open play, but his set piece delivery into the box today not as good as usual (and that's being kind).

Kane - 6 - Loves getting crosses in. Shame they're all pointless.

Bidwell - 7 - Decent, took his second attempt at goal well. Does lots of niggly fouls that go unpunished but give us an advantage. Crosses generally poor. Professional though.

Palmer - 6 - Difficult to rate. First 10 mins he was on fire. Then went missing for long periods. Seems to drift into very odd positions, sometimes very deep or even hugging the touchline in an attempt to get on the ball. But that often puts his team mates under pressure. All that being said he is one of the two players we have that can thread a correctly weighted ball through a defence.

Waghorn - 5 - Not worth the wages. Questioned this signing at the time as he hadn't looked good for Derby previously. Think he did well to get his first half effort on target under tight marking. He will probably never score for us again though.

Gyokeres - 7 - Grafts like no one else. Difficult one for him today under close attention from numerous players. Often his decisions revolve around his own success rather than the teams, but I can't really blame him for that. Plus he stopped a certain goal.

Tavares - 6 - Bright and surely worthy of a start over Waghorn. One decent attempt and one speculative one.

Dabo - 6 - Good tackle. Has an incredibly poor first touch for a footballer but he tried to push us on when he came on. Clearly not fit yet.

Sheaf - 6 - Can't keep his cool once he gets towards the opposition penalty area but everything else he does very well.

Jekyll and Hyde performance. First 15 minutes they were excellent. As soon as we scored the wing backs dropped 15 yards and for the next 75 thought we were lucky not to concede more than 1. This isn’t the first time we’ve done this in the past few weeks.
Allen and Panzo poor. No one really had a good match but I thought Bidwell was our best player.
Won’t mind their keeper. He wasn’t nailed to his line. You could hear him calling at his defence constantly and his kicking is so much better than Wilson. Wilson’s distribution is about as good as Lee Burge.

Poor game for Panzo and I think we've probably had it now with Waghorn. He will never offer us anything and needs to be moved on.

Same with Dabo. He really is poor. His decision making is appalling. I wouldn't be sorry to see him farmed out either.

I wish Gyokeres would learn to PASS THE FUCKING BALL every now and then. Jesus!

Overall a disappointing day.

I think Gyok gets into a good position and thinks who can I pass to who can do something?

If Hamer isn’t there then…. yep go yourself son.

Laid a brilliant ball on for Sheaf though - the “Greedy Gyok” thing I can’t get on board with.

If we had some players who could actually hit a shot we might see a different Gyok.

Yeah their keeper is exactly what we need. Vocal, commands his area, can kick a football.

Rose getting 7s and 6s 🤣🤣🤣

He was one more shit pass away from a match fixing scandal.

I think some of the 7s being thrown around are far too generous in general. Not sure how Sheaf is getting them either, thought he was very hit and miss.

Can't see how anyone was really head and shoulders above a six today.

And still the best of the back three by some distance

Personally thought he was thw worst of them. Gave possession away with every pass he made. Even when not pressed. Thought all 3 were shite. An absolute shambles in the first half.

Who picks the official MOTM?

When I heard it was Rose I did a little burp.

None of the back line deserved more than a 4.

Allen for me, he moved to the back of the box and still did a job.

Agree RE the back line save for Bidwell who was decent. But thought Allen was poor (again) and should have done a lot better for their goal. Bloke needs dropping now and would benefit from a rest. I’d be minded to give Kelly a run and push Gus further forward for a game or two. Not ideal but bugger all else available.

got a feeling its picked by the match sponsors so probably more a case of which player do you want to meet / give an award to than who has played best

Sometimes that's true, but not always. Today he had ample opportunity to lay it off to a teammate, but decided not too and ran into trouble.

Wilson 6 - Actually started confidently, but took an eternity to let go of the ball each time he had it, to the detriment of a quick break. Got worse as it went on, one shocking release of the ball, a random drop - all very Wilson!
Kane 5 - Hmmm. Didn't do anything wrong as such, but did he remember he was there to play football?
Rose 7 - the only CB who remembered how to defend.
Panzo 4 - shocking. Forgot how to tackle, head, pass - bullied all over the place, should have done better for goal, and other times galore.
Doyle 5 - Is it because he's young, if he makes a mistake he seems to go into a death spiral and get worse and worse. Positionally awful, although tbf did try and pull himself around the second half.
Bidwell 7.5 +1 for goal. I actually think he looks a bit leggy, however.
Allen 7 -Sorry, I actually thought he did alright! Goal was a richochet, lovely ball for Tavares, and a couple of other nice balls too. Actually busted a gut to get into position when others (see later) didn't...
Hamer 8 - trying too hard, but kept a grip on midfield when others were losing their heads.
Palmer 6 - started each half well, and you could see why we signed him. After 15 minutes dropped off significantly in the first half, ceded possession, lost his shape which meant the others had to cover (which means they look worse) and wasn't a surprise he only got 15 minutes of the second half. If he's to be O'Hare's replacement for the season we're going to have to compromise how we play, and how we expect him to play, as we clearly won't get what we want out of him expecting him to do the job we expect of the rest of the midfield.
Waghorn 5. Similar to Palmer, but he's lost what little pace he had, so it meant he couldn't capitalise on good positions as maybe he should. Must remember in those first 15 minutes however, he got in the right positions, showed well.
Gyokeres 7 - looks leggy, and a bit tired leading the line alone. Still wish sometimes he's pick the simple option! Couple of tremendous second half breaks saved by terrific challenges from Bristol City, and one time bringing the ball down fro the air showed the class he has.

Dabo 6 - maybe generous. Stood stock still as though on pause while his controller went for a shit all too often, but did offer more of an option than Kane.
Sheaf 7 - hard to mark as all a bit depressing by that point, but then overall we picked up attacking wise when the subs came on, so they must have done something right!
Tavares 6 - good chance when put through by Allen, a shot elsewhere. Looked to make things happen, but end product not there.

That being said, it's a point, another game without losing. What's most frustrating is how good we looked for that first fifteen minutes and then, after going in front, that vanished!

Not far off what I'd go for but Panzo lower than 5. Truly awful today. His positioning is always dreadful but makes up for it in athleticism and decent ability on the ball. None of that today.

I wouldn't want to pass to Allen or Bidwell in an attacking position tbh. I bet he is gutted O'Hare isn't up with him anymore.

Sheaf saved a certain goal with the online goal scramble and saved us a point, their keeper was motm caught absolutely everything not like old kick it out Wilson at the other end...Defence was shocking today midfield was way under strength Waghorn was dogshit yet again and we need to sell/loan him out or give him away its costing way way too much having so many misfits and injury plagued players and that dick head writing get rid of Robins needs his head wobbling

Palmer and Vik very good. Tavares lively.
Most of the rest average.
Dabo / Kane - Nope. Both not good enough. Saw more in Burroughs in 3-4 appearances .
Waghorn - I’ll need to watch old highlights of his Derby years
when he was apparently decent. Technically sound but his legs have gone I’m afraid. Feel we’ve been stitched up badly with this signing.

I can’t help but think that the reason Waghorn and Kane started yesterday was to put them in some sort of shop window:

“Look, these guys are Championship starters. Any clubs want to take them off our hands? How about a loan? Just pay 50% of their wages. Ok, 40%? 30%?….”

Sad fact is, can anyone see a club pay 10% of Waghorn’s wages?

What a frankly stupid signing. 31 years old. No resale potential. 2 year flat deal costing about £1.4m. Now. How much did well sell Hyam for and how much do we need him now?

Stupid.

This obsession with Waghorn has to stop. It wasn't a sign Waghorn vs keep Hyam.

At the time he wasn't a bad signing, plenty of experience and on a free, and a decent footballer. Despite lack of goals he started the season well linking up well with Viktor and part of the reason we had the explosive start to the season. Unfortunately his time here has been plagued by injuries and niggles and we haven't seen the best of him, so it's just not worked out.

There is still a player in there, he just needs game time. He was no where near as bad yesterday as some are making out, but it's easy just to scapegoat him for yesterday's performance.

And yes I can see a huge queue of clubs that would pay 10% of his wages to take him on loan. They'd snap your hands off.
