I've started watching Cheers yet again...
And it's still as good as it was the day I watched the first episode when it was first released here.
I'd quite forgotten, though, that Sam employed Diane in episode one. I had it in my mind that it was a few episodes later. Don't know why.
Norm, Coach, Cliff, and Carla though - all present and correct and as sharp as ever.

Just finished 'A Spy Among Friends'..
A little slow in places but once the story all tied together I enjoyed it in the end.
8/10 for me

Two films I’ve seen recently worth catching
Hell or high water - Jeff bridges and Chris pine. Modern day outlaw film. unfortunately likely to have to pay to watch on sky store etc. well worth it though. Can’t believe I’ve never come across it before
The oak room - bit quirky, suspense film on C4 catch up.
Both less than 1 hour 45mins which makes a change
also, watched a couple of old classics again over Xmas. Goodfellas on bbc (although got dvd) and then was looking for Casino and realised someone must’ve nicked my dvd and couldn’t see it anywhere on stream so bought a used copy for £2.50 (recycling
). What a film !
ps loving catching up with Detectorists. Halfway through second season

I was exactly the same and thought it would be cheesy American shite that I’d hate.
My Missus kept going on about watching it so I finally conceded and like you say just a really good happy go lucky watch.

For anyone who has never watched it or has not watched it for a while then BBC4 is showing the first two episodes of Early Doors tonight and think all episodes will be available on the iPlayer.

Maybe I need to give it another go. Only watched the first episode and I just couldn't get into it. Didn't really laugh either. Maybe I need to give it more time.

Its a classic. And I know someone whose like every main character as I'm sure most people do, that's part of its appeal.
It also includes a very before it's time Jimmy Savile jokes just goes to show how widespread the knowledge of his crimes were.

I really loved it and bought the DVD set. I loaned to a mate who I thought had similar tastes in humour as me, but he just couldn't get into it. Each to their own I suppose.

Just watched the first 2 episodes of Early Doors. My first time watching it. Lovely nostalgic feel to it. The pub reminds me of a place I use to drink in at uni in Preston called the fighting cock.

The Menu (Disney+ I think?) - won’t give too much away but about a super posh restaurant and things get pretty fucked up. I enjoyed it.
X (Prime I think) - Weird horror movie about a bunch of people that go to a farm to film a porno and get killed basically. Not sure about this one, was enjoyable enough and had boobs which is always nice. I’m not a massive horror fan mind.

Just started watching The Ozarks, what a grim show that is!
Also watched Bird Box, which was a nice slant on the survival horror theme. John Malkovic was at his macabre best.

The Light in the Hall - Welsh murder mystery drama on Channel 4 about a mother trying to solve her missing daughter, but also focuses on the murderer getting released from prison. Really enjoyed it, great acting too. Can't unsee Ramsey Bolton from Game of Thrones though
Our Flag Means Death - Comedy HBO series just released to iPlayer based around a pirate ship with Rhys Darby and Taika Waititi. Really wholesome and funny when it focuses more on the main two characters

The Menu - major disappointment, was expecting a twisty satire, but it ended up being Saw with rich people. Far less than the sum of its parts.
Glass Onion - dreadful. Knives Out was a fun modern whodunnit, this turned Blanc into a cartoon character and tried to pack in as many topical celebrity references as possible - it’s going to date horribly.
Add in both seasons of The White Lotus and I think I’ve done quite enough ‘awful rich people get murdered in swanky location’ content for one month.

I think that’s fair on The Menu. I enjoyed Glass Onion for what it was but nowhere near as good as Knives Out. Got me looking for a whodunnit though and just started The After Party (series on Apple TV) so will see how that goes. Another comedy celebrity whodunnit, seems to have an interesting take though.

I agree. I thought Glass Onion was much the better film.Weird that, as I enjoyed Glass Onion much more than Knives Out, which I found just okay.I think I had bigged it up too much in my mind, so was expecting brilliance, but then found that I just quite liked it.
Thought Glass Onion was so much more fun.
The Menu I thought was ok. worth a watch but nothing to write home about.
Someone I know likened it to a shit Midsommar…which I thought great albeit essentially a remake of the Wicker Man.
