i was kinda thinking the same, maybe telling us what we want to hear rather than what we don't, still time will tell and it is only til the summer so nothing to lose really

Yes / it’s just a poor time to buy with prices raised / perception we now have money.

But the one which has been speculated for the whole window might be on. It’s more on the club than the player!

Paterson?

I’m guessing down to his wage and contract length demands then. Let’s hope he’s sensible.

Yep, different to Waghorn, stuck with him on a two year contract.

If you were somehow expecting a prolific Championship goalscorer in the January window on a free transfer then yes, I can see why you'd feel disappointed but you might want to check your expectations a little.

Maguire isn't that sort of player, he's a hard working, link play forward who could potentially be a very good foil for Vik as currently we are rather one dimensional.

Agree. And we were never, ever really going to be able to get a free or very cheap goalscorer where we. Not in this January window.

This may well prove to be a bit of shrewd business..

He is a Waghorn replacement will start games probably be subbed, be on the bench come on after an hour or so. Let’s be honest apart from penalties Waggy was woeful in front of goal and not that mobile perhaps similar wages, those on here hoping and expecting a COH type at 28 will be disappointed unless we are lucky.

If this is correct then he may also free up Godden to focus on scoring goals instead of holding it up/running channels which isn’t his game.

I want to be enthusiastic but he’s spent so much time out injured recently and hasn’t played for over 2 months. New owners really ?! Same old same old……..

I know what you mean. It's also frustrating MR saying Maguire needs time to get up to speed and get his fitness sorted. Why sign a player on a 6 month contract who isn't ready to go? By the sounds of it, both Godden and Walker will be back before Maguire is ready.

I don't think he's been signed to play up front, I think he's been signed as a stop gap O'Hare replacement at AM.

Maybe he is giving the player a break so our fans don't jump on his back after 90 mins

I know nothing about the guy so I'll hold my judgement until he gets on the pitch. Hopefully he's kept up his fitness while sitting on the bench and will be eager to prove a point.

We're short of bodies and it's a low risk 6 month gamble.

That's an outrageous accusation! The people here would never do that to one of our own players. I dare you to name one!

OK, apart from O'Hare, Sheaf, Hamer, Allen, Bidwell, Dabo, Walker, Hyam, Rose, Eccles, Wilson and Moore.

And Godden, Panzo, Doyle, BNC, JWE, Ried, Kelly, Palmer, Waghorn and Gyokeres. Well basically anyone thats not Fabio

This may have already been said, but surely this signing is a low cost stop gap on the assumption that Gyokeres is sold for big money so late in the window that there will be insufficient time to replace him before the deadline.

Maguire and a returned to fitness Godden are the strikers thro to May and some kind of mid-table security.

I imagine it's more about fitness and he's also still under contract until end of June so probably making the most of the conditioning available to him and contacts to help find another club.

Absolutely stupid signing and waste of a wage in the first place. We all knew that! Don’t know why we signed him

because at the time we thought godden and walker would be out for longer than they were meaning we had vic as our only forward option

We were put kids who have ow been released o the bench to make up numbers

Panic we were down to Vik. Just a short term gamble that didn't come off.
