Do you want to discuss boring politics? (21 Viewers)

Which is what I have been saying. Yet most on here just seem to always want to disagree with everything I say even when they agree with me 🤔

You said Blair was a liar, brown robbed everyone of pension and Corbyn a terrorist. Which labour leader have you ever liked!

He's thoroughly dishonest, I'm talking Johnson levels of dishonesty.
And he'll prove to be just as corrupt.
Bookmark mark this for 3 or 4 years into his first term and I'll happily admit to talking bollocks if I'm wrong.
Of course he's not going to be totally squeaky clean. Everyone who gets into a position like that has made deals somewhere and owes somebody. Will he be saying shit he doesn't believe because thinktanks/advisors believe it will get votes - of course he will.

But to be just as corrupt as Johnson!? That's really pushing it.

Show me where I said Corbyn was a terrorist. What I said was too many skeletons in the closet.

But yes Blair lied about WMD's. Brown killed off final salary pensions with his massive tax take. Or would you like to disagree with this?

So you didn’t like brown and Blair

What’s your opinion of Boris Johnson?

Man of the people?

To be honest, the debate isn't about the point you made, it's about Starmer and his rolling back on pledges.
If people are OK to let that slide that's fine but it's not something I'm happy with.
I take it you do know that our economy has crashed because of the extremely bad way the Tories have run things since then.

It would be the same for someone to tighten their belts and change their plans because they don't have the funds they had just a few years ago. If Starmer continued to pledge what now can't be afforded the Tories would be back in again although they are presently an absolute shambles.

Which pledges did he roll back on because they became unaffordable?

but you think Boris Johnson is a straight talking guy who tells the truth?

All the pledges are only possible in government. He can’t break any of them yet. The one exception is the “strong opposition” pledge, which looking at the polls it’s hard to argue with.

He's already rolled back on them, he's admitted it.
He's blamed covid.
Affordability isn't the issue for several of them is the point I'm making.
In fact, he should be doubling down on his pledge to raise the higher rate of tax.

he wasn’t there then?
Same to you. At least give evidence on what he pledged and not what Corbyn or Abbot have said since.

You would make an excellent Tory PM. Total lack of reality on the problems facing most people and the present state of the economy.

So which ones have not been affected with the way the Tories have devastated our economy?

You think changing a policy platform openly is comparable to what Johnson has done? Really?

Changing a policy platform? Really? They were cast iron commitments that he made to the membership as a condition of his leadership campaign.

Then, as soon as he got power he rolled back on them immediately and started the purge.

I get that integrity means fuck all to some people, which is probably why we end up with such useless wankers running the country.

Can you post a link to him saying this? He’s said things will depend on the state of the finances. I can’t find anything with him saying the pledges are reversed.

“The purge”, who exactly has been purged?

He isn't enough to the left for some. They would prefer (although nobody will name who they would prefer) someone further to the left who wouldn't get elected. This is the part I can never understand.

So I ask you this

And you reply with this

Same old Astute!

You carry on mate, I'm done discussing Starmer.
Of course you are. Because you can't answer a simple question.

Theresa May lost her position as PM because she promised what couldn't be afforded because of the state of the economy. If Starmer did the same he would be finished. Then who would we have? You have already admitted you don't know who with.

He's hiding behind covid, a tory trick and no mistake.
I mean what about number 7, he doesn't need to be PM to achieve that. How do you think he's doing?

Pledge - a solemn promise or undertaking

Clearly this will be surprising news to some people on here but it is entirely possible to want a Labour government and not think Starmer is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Doesn't mean those people will only accept a hard left party leader.

How is he going to repeal the Trade Unions Act from opposition?

Step one to all of these is get elected. And to do that he needs to show a break from Corbyn. Once he’s in we can spend twenty years whining about how he wasn’t perfect but give him a chance and I’d take him over any Tory any day of the week.

I also wish the left of the party were electable. But to direct your ire at those who are instead of the eejits on the left who don’t take electability seriously is nuts.

That was only part of the pledge, he promised to stand shoulder to shoulder with trade unions - he hasn't achieved that has he?

How has the state of the economy affected that pledge?
How does not being PM affect that pledge.

Not one of the ten pledges but he did vow to end NHS outsourcing, he's reneged on that and streeting is giddy with excitement at the prospect.

We could go on until the next election but the proof will be in the pudding so I'll let you have the last word on the issue.

Correct. I still don't know which so called pledges you want me to reply to so asked you which they are. And as usual you always expect a reply to questions but don't like replying to them yourself so come out with comments like this one.

I'll try yet again. Which pledges are you on about which haven't been affected by the situation the Tories have left us in?

I agree with you. But who is there that would be better than Starmer for Labour? Not one person has answered this question.

And this will surprise some on here, but calling out clear bullshit narratives doesn’t mean you think someone is the best thing since sliced bread.
