What will be interesting is what happens if there are Tory MP’s who vote against Sunak’s deal. Will he take the Boris line and kick them out of the party?

He's selling them the idea it's a privilege to get this over the line. You're not so stupid not to get that, simply pretending as usual to fit your personal grudges.

You also aren’t stupid enough to not get that NI wouldn’t have been put in this situation if we hadn’t taken it out of the EU against its will

Didn’t know whether to post this in the coronavirus thread or this one but on a scale of one to ten how stupid is Matt Hancock?

I recon he’s gone all the way up to eleven, which as we all know is one stupider than ten.

It always amazes me how easily union leaders are able to call out BS and silly game playing from the government. It’s a simple recipe, just tell the truth.

We already had one minister confirming that it would have been cheaper to just agree to the RMT requests but they didn’t want to ‘let other unions see the success’. NEU have been clear in saying the strike action will stop if we get a serious pay offer to negotiate on. No offer received

Showing my age but I would think it’s referring to how British workers used to go Europe, mainly Germany to work on building sites as there was no work in the UK and loads over there, really well paid too. At the time there was a sitcom called Auf weidersehen, pet which was about some canny geordie builders who went to Germany to work on building sites. Starmer is suggesting that it’s going to happen again but next time they’ll be working in Poland as Poland is on course to becoming a bigger economy than us in 10 years. Do widzenia, pet.

It's comments like this that could lose him the next election.

Will anyone take him seriously when we all know it isn't true?

All he has to do is keep to the truth and not get into slanging matches. But I suppose he has to try and keep all factions of the Labour Party happy. This is what always helps to keep the Tories in power. The vast majority of Tories stick together whatever the subject. And all for the reason of wanting to keep their snouts in the trough.

I guess if you’ve got to explain it then it’s not really making the impact you’re looking for.

Which bit isn’t true?

I agree it's a distraction attempt, but it's not taking into account that rent/mortgage and fuel bills take up a much larger percentage of take home pay now. Fact he talks about using the garden as the foodbank - I bet there's a lot of people nowadays saying "what garden?"

Remember when all the Tories loved, admired and respected Sue Gray. Her honesty and decency was unquestionable. Nobody could question her integrity which was why Boris Johnson was right to appoint her to head of the enquiry into his behaviour.
