Poor Walker. He has hardly had a chance to prove anything this season with injuries. Lets give him some time to find some form. He is a different type of striker to Gyokores and Godden, just as O'Hare, Palmer and Allen are different types of midfield player.

We have to go with the players we have now until the end of the season. Support them. The team is a collective. Even the strongest players in the squad rely on that collective spirit, they can't do it on their own.

The games Walker has started in this season, he has been given a pretty thankless task (think Norwich away was one of them).
Hope he gets a start this weekend alongside Gyokeres or as part of a front three.

Be very surprised if he's still here next season though

He's not going to get a new contract, is he and even if he was offered one, why would he sign it? He came to us for regular first team football, so why would he stay if he isn't getting it?

Hope he starts next game but playing up front with Vic can't be easy. Who knows when he's going to... or if he's going to release the ball.
Vik has played weeks with Godden, Walker, O’Hare and Taveres unavailable through injury it’s a bloody good job he is greedy, seems to work.

Errrrrrr...... for more money than any other mugs would pay???

Like why does Phil Jones stay at Man utd despite only making 6 appearances in the last 4 seasons ?

I'm not sure why Godden is suddenly deemed not good enough. He suits the lone striker role with decent attacking midfielders behind him, this season he's played in a 2 with Vik which clearly doesn't work. Robins insists in persevering with this. We started the season that way (forced by O'Hare's injury). Godden got a couple of braces against Millwall and Hull but since then has struggled. He would be perfect to bring on in the last 10-20 mins of games, to give Vik a rest but it's not happened yet. Have no doubt he'll start them again on Saturday
It can work with Godden and Vik together:

Given our lack of AM's and the fact that they have started a large number of games together in which we have won, I would be considering it. Godden needs to be sharper though-he's not fully fit after injury. For that reason Walker deserves a chance too-I think he looked fired up last game.

It worked well in those games because O'Hare was playing tbh

Of course they can. They are other examples of them playing really well together. And yet some people still think Gyokeres or Godden should have been left out for Walker because he scored a couple of goals when Godden was suspended after the Fulham match.

No, it's because Godden has been practically anonymous for the last god knows how many games he started, he touched the ball 13 times in 63 minutes - Walker touched it 9 times in 27 mins (+ injury time).

I agree now but not at that time. Would be tempted to play Walker tomorrow as he looked more lively than Godden on Tuesday.

They are two lowest ranked in the squad for touches. It's not really their game, their game is playing off the shoulder and coming alive in the penalty box

This is why we can't play both Godden and Walker together. We simply wouldn't hold onto the ball enough. Either can play with Gyokeres.

So you think he would lead us forward as a lone striker if Vik got injured? Not a cat in hells chance, his days are sadly numbered

Looks like the penny’s dropped with Tyler finally. He improved us against Preston and Huddersfield today. His reverse ball to Vik was great before his easy goal. Despite Robins strange treatment of him last season when he was dropped after 2 on 2 , he clearly rates him. Be great if he stepped up on these last dozen games.

If we are playing 2 up top, then is there a case to start him? It feels Godden is lost in a pair with Vik at present.

I bow to Robins' judgement, and it's likely it won't happen.

Having him fit and available will help with the run in. If Godden stays fit, those two and Vik are enough to maintain current form and keep top six in our sights.

Not sold on him leading the line but if he and Godden scramble 6-8 goals between them, Vik grabs 5-6 more and others chip in 5-6, that's 16-20 in 11 games.

Feels like that's enough to win 6, draw one or two. Would make 72 points. Have a hunch that'll sneak 6th. Walker weirdly making things look better with a tap in.

He did well today when he came on, and his goal (albeit a tap in) will do him the world of good.
He needed to get on the score sheet to help him get a club for next season as I can't see him being offered a new contract here.

Always been convinced there is a player in Walker. I'd like to see him given a go next to Gyok for a few games now to see if he can build on yesterday. Loads of people will be saying it's only a tap in but being in the right place at the right time is a big part of being a decent striker. Also linked with Gyok well. Over the last few matches it feels like gyok has been happier to pick out a pass a bit more which could play right in to walkers hands.

Gyokeres was a winger in the early part of his career and you can see it

Putting himself about more, running and closing down like he has been asked for 3 years.
