Saw this mentioned on another thread, but I was watching a replay of a game the other day, and was struck by the chasing back that Hamer does, and the amount of times that he reads players trying to cut back. He regularly gets a foot in to disrupt the opposition attacks. I think a lot of this is down to his ability to read what a player is trying to do, coupled with his low centre of gravity, enabling him to twist and turn better than most. Add in his natural competitiveness, and ability with the ball, I think he is more important to the team going forward than any other player. The first player that I think we need to tie down to a new contract if we can.
