Yeah he was average. Him and BNC are a big drop off in terms of quality compared to Maatsen.

Tbf, I think Maatsen is the only wing back that can put a ball in/shot on target. Our ball into box/pass to player is generally woeful.

I thought he looked off the pace and kept getting dispossessed. Quite a few good moves broke down when it got to him. He did a few good things though.

I noticed you called people clowns in another thread for being doubtful about him, but I think that's a bit silly, and lacks perspective.

He played well today, but it was one hour against one of the worst teams in the league. It's an encouraging sign, which is good, but it's far too early to be banging the drum long term. He needs to build on that performance now, as he's been incredibly poor for a good 18 months at least. You don't unprove that in one afternoon, and I don't think it's very fair to be throwing insults around based on it either.
Here she is

We smashed Huddersfield with four teenagers in the squad all playing a significant part in the match and a veteran in Josh Eccles.
Warnock’s an arse, he’s over fifty years older than five of yesterdays team ffs!

True but not after a handful of games. Maasten was getting similar grief on here early doors from a section who were typically proved wrong as the season progressed. We may see similar of one or both of the two wingbacks between now and the end of the season. JWE was considerably better than he has been yesterday and will improve with game time.

As for Dabo, he always looks good when he finally gets up to fitness. Don’t think he has been 100% all season but fancy he is up to the level when fully fit. I think he remains first choice and will have his contract extended.

I hope Bidwell is back in next week

5 for Maguire feels a bit harsh. Thought he did ok when he came on. Nothing special, but certainly no worse than the other subs.

A lot of comments on him have been positive but up with the game won against a team bottom is a dream scenario to make an impression

He looked like he’d been playing for 5 hours after 10 minutes - no back tracking and just not really at the races at all

It was a good win. A few goals will give the team confidence in our current situation with injuries.

Not sure why people are upset with Warnocks comments? He is trying to pick up the pieces of his sides shattered confidence. They are as good as gone unless they can find some fight.

If we are going to make play offs, we will need Godden, Dabo, BNC, JWE, Walker and Howley playing their way into form. That will mean playing minutes and games even if in rotation.

We need the squad now. Its not about fans personal favourites v the ones they like to knock. If they have the shirt support them, back them. Not one of those players will go out a deliberately perform badly.

We are back in the pack.

Maguire obviously came on to buzz about and just be a pest which he did and did well I thought.

Referencing Dabo - I think most of us have recognised that Dabo has played when not being fully fit. Clearly, he's been trying to manage an issue and MR has kept playing him despite this. I think he deserves some plaudits for his continued commitment to the team during this time.
I really hope he's now been given time to fully recover, so we can see the difference in his performance level.

That might explain it.
He's been piss poor this season before today.
Tbf he's played before he's had time to recover from injuries, but there's no denying that he's been disappointing.

I'm not convinced that MR will keep him around after this season, so he needs to impress and keep his place.
I’m fairly sure his contact expires in June but there is a one year option in the club’s favour.

Interesting seeing Warnock’s assessment that they should have led at half time and were under no pressure before conceding.

Can't remember too many clearcut chances for them in the first half. But that said, I thought we looked a bit disjointed before the goal. Attacks breaking down and players not quite in the right positions. So, I don't think the point about pressure was too far off. The goal changed the game completely

Sorry but I thought he was poor and can see why he hasn't been playing. For once I agree with Grendel on this one.

It was the fading after ten minutes that was somewhat concerning really. I know he hasn't been playing, but his fitness levels can't be *that* far behind the others?
