Do you want to discuss boring politics? (52 Viewers)

🤷🏻‍♂️ I am not her. Just saying it’s on the website. Is politics just the generation game but instead of cuddly toys you have obscure policy areas?

I think you should just have straight answers

It’s not even a big policy issue is it? Braver man was interviewed and then she was. She could have just said whatever happens she’d repeal it. Instead she splutters it’s never going to work.

She refused to give a commitment on anything

I'd love a progressive reformer like Attlee/Wilson but the country elected BlueKIP last time round.

Thats a looooooong swing left and we don't to do pendulum politics like France/Italy.

If it did Michael Foot would've won after widespread civil unrest/industrial action in the 80s🤷‍♂️

I wasn’t interviewing her - the BBC were

Just seems like a gotcha rather than a serious attempt to ascertain Labours policy. They’ve all probably been told to commit to nothing in public. If you’d seriously think Yvette Cooper would be no different from Suella Braverman I’ve got a bridge and a few thousand bonds in a rugby club to sell you.

No one knows labours policies - I think that’s the point. On any politics programmes politicians are interviewed beyond their brief.

Is it a policy commitment to cancel Rwanda?

She said there are issues with Pakistani and Kurdish gangs - so she singled them out and Rochdale and Sheffield

Did she when asked would she cancel the Rwanda Bill say yes she would?

She quite literally didn't single them out.

Unless you don't know what the word single means.

It’s a “campaign” which is as far as Labour policy goes until we get a manifesto. I’m not saying it doesn’t create awkward interviews, but clearly the decision is to say as little as possible until the last minute. Until then we can only go on the party’s considered statements put on their website over a single MP asked on the spot.

She didn’t mention them specifically ? Yep she did. Why have you edited my post? Oh - so you avoid admitting she didn’t say Labour would cancel Rwanda

OK so you don’t know what the word single means.

And I haven’t edited your posts about Rwanda.

Oh yes you’ve avoided the post asking that so now you have an opportunity- did she when asked say it would be cancelled?

Did she single out Pakistani and Kurdish gangs? Yes Siree! I also said “she spluttered about it being all groups in society

Yes Siree!

Seems those comprehension skills are failing and another bang on the head

Dis she say labour would stop the Rwanda policy?

Labour's shadow communities secretary Lisa Nandy said the Rwanda policy was "a con trick being perpetrated on the British people"

Yeah sounds like she's really on board with it doesn't it?

Use your brain (be careful).

I think you are Lisa Nandy as you will not answer any question asked

If that’s the case then Labour is pathetic. I’m not surprised though, which is why I’d only vote for Starmer because he’s not the Conservatives.
It isn’t. She didn’t say that Labour wouldn’t reverse Rwanda. What she actually said is that Labour would never have the opportunity to reverse Rwanda because it will never happen under the Tories, it’s a Tory con trick.

She was asked if it was still in place after the next election would Labour reverse the policy Tony.

As far as I'm aware, Labour have committed to reverse Rwanda etc. If said commitment didn't turn up in their manifesto, that would be me casting around for someone else to vote for as I can't vote for anybody who condones such a barbaric, immoral, cowardly and (probably!) unlawful policy against the most desperate of the world.

That is a general statement of course, would also apply to Lib Dems, Greens... Britain First.

I know what she was asked and she was asked if it was proved to be working by the next election would Labour continue with it, which is a distinct difference from you’re claiming she was asked. Also unlike you I also know what she said in reply and surprise surprise it isn’t what you’re claiming either. She said it was a con trick by the Tories and it will never happen.

How can a policy that abdicates our humanitarian responsibility be proven to be working?

Well this is the point. She was asked if it’s objective of reducing migration was would labour then cancel it. She said it won’t so no need to answer the question

If she feels the same as you and The Tonester just say it’s stopped the minute we come into office

I'd be quite happy for her to say that. I fear shmmeee's right though, and they've been instructed to say little. Probably fear based on the reaction the likes of Abbot have got when getting things wrong off script.

It would be a lot better if every politician were allowed to be a little bit human, give their opinion, and if they make a very human slip so they're not 100% on message, they're allowed to correct it afterwards. We'd see a lot more clarity, ironically, then.

Well, it can’t can it. The Tories are praying for a drop in the number of boats and people arriving by boats so they can ignore all the tangible reasons such as the deal recently signed with France to police it better, or the deal recently signed with Albania to return Albanians, they’ll sweep that under the carpet and point to the intangible deal with Rwanda and say look, look, we told you Rwanda will work. It’s a huge con. Not least because the numbers they’re talking about sending to Rwanda won’t even scratch the surface if it ever did happen so most people will like the odds and take their chances. Also they keep forgetting to mention it’s an exchange program, the movement of people will be happening in both directions, we’re sending immigrants there and taking some in return so the nett “benefits” will never be what they claim they are. I agree with Nandy, it will never happen, or at least that’s my gut feeling at this moment in time. Con con con, however you way it up. Red meat for the morons.

I’ve just watched the interview again. She was 100% asked if it was proven to be working would labour cancel it and she 100% replied it’s a Tory con trick.

Yes or no do you think it’s a good Tory policy?

Tony you keep saying it’s red meat for the morons but you voted for an anti immigration party and then said they and their policies weren’t racist

She refused to say she’d cancel it - at least you’ve now agreed with me on that so we are aligned

Well Starmer has at least honestly said he doesn’t support the teachers continuing strike action

All hell breaks loose on these forums if someone doesn’t hold a consistent opinion on Ben Sheaf ffs, I don’t hold out much hope for politicians trying to be flexible on the BBC’s flagship current affairs show

I don't even mean flexible tbh, I just mean doing the very human thing of misspeaking under pressure now and again!

I didn’t realise but apparently there’s a border change happening so Braverman is up against a fellow Tory to be selected to stand as an MP in a new seat at the next GE.
