Last night was awful, I was actually embarrassed to be witnessing it, embarrased by the taunting from the home fans who must have thought it was bloody christmas.

Our defence were amateur to say the least, they fluffed the basics every single time. They relinquished possession countless times. At every set piece I witnessed people losing there man, at times not even bothering to track there man (Adam Barton if your reading this I'm aiming this at you).

Take the paragraph above and replace midfield with defence and you have what they were like.

I read in the paper this morning that we had something like 11 shots.. I honestly can't remember them..

I honestly don't know what were going to do..

There must be something deep rooted in the squad causing this, either that or we're just plain not good enough.

However , saying that, that doesn't mean we can show no bloody effort at all..

Finally, why the actual fuck was Cody left on the bench..

In summary, I haven't got over it, I thought I had, but I havent..

The Preston fans warned us about Adam Barton not doing this.

Andy Thorn must have known this surely?

Gally, it was a nightmare. Did Murphy get a push before dropping that ball? It looked like it to me. Edjenguele is not what we need. Barton has been a total flop (that goal aside). Thought Jennings might do ok but he's got gradually worse. Caught dawdling on the ball so many times last night. If he had someone with him in midfield it might help him. Elliott, runs about but never a goal threat. We need a big striker to help him or preferably McDonald. Where's Ball? The Shrewsbury defenders just put their foot through it every time. Probably my worst match watching City in 53 years.
My match ratings for what they are worth.
Murphy - 1
Clark - 1
Hussey 2
Wood -4
Edjenguele - 0
Baker - 2
Jennings - 2
Barton - minus 5
Kilbane - minus 5
Elliott -1
McGoldrick -4

subs
Fleck - 4
Daniels -2
McSheffrey (not on long enough)

What really struck me was our counter attacks..

Shrewsbury took 2 passes and they were in our half on the attack, our counter attacks consist of 17 passes on the halfway line, ending in a pass back to murphy, who lumps it forward, resulting in a free header for one of the opposition..

We play with zero tempo, our play actually sucks the tempo out of the game.. We are constantly slowing the game down.. They are fucking shite.. I wanted to run on the pitch and clothes line the whole fucking lot of em.. Spineless tossers.

There are enough drama queens on here for a remake of Dynasty.

Yes but this is good passing possession football that Thorn had us playing... It is much better than anything we have ever seen before.

Couldn't agree more, the whole idea of a counter attack is to break at pace, zip the ball about, move off the ball with a bit of purpose. Suppose we have invented a new attacking style, 'plodding, pedestrian attack', but I can't see that catching on!

When they attacked they did so alot quicker than us and with real intent.

I'm all for keeping possesion like, but it's got to be passed alot quicker and more accurate than it was last night.

Totally with you there, it was truly shocking, spineless, gutless performance by so called professionals, tossers the lot of them, I'm still pissed off.
