Player of the season. Gus or Vik (4 Viewers)

I think it has to be Gyok. I do think Hamer has really stepped up after his early red cards but you have to take it on the balance of the full season not just who's in form.

he’s the best player I’ve seen for 20 years - why so angry?
Hes the best player I've seen too last 20 years at their peak playing in a cov shirt.

Hamer comes a close 2nd.

Right back on thread. Player of the season.

Hamer has won the most MOTM awards in the whole league - this season so far.

Any player/any position. This season.

there’s one choice - players like Gyokeres are nearly impossible to find and without him we’d be nowhere - the last player whose scores this many goals in this league or above is who?
How many midfielders have scored 8, assisted 10 whilst driving us forward and starting the moves that got other goals? And the season isn't over yet.

Hamer reads the game very well. He will do well in the Prem. Not sure about Gyokeres in the Prem. He would be up against better quality defenders.

Time will tell. We will soon be able to give an answer within a year.

Think both can play a higher level that's for sure. Vik is still nowhere near finished article.

For me, it’s Vik. Improved on last years goals and he’s covered up other cracks in the team and kept us in the race for play offs, especially as he was the only fit striker.
Hamer, whilst be quality recently, I would have said we wouldn’t have missed him after two reds and constant disciplinary issues at the start of the season, thankfully that appears to be behind him and he’s much better for it.

I don't think there's much in it. I actually prefer Hamer as a player and he might just edge it for me. That said Vik has been very good for us and I'm very greateful he stayed for the season. I think you'd be hard pushed not to give him the award. Wilson in with a shout?

When does the voting close?

Vik is a fabulous striker and does so much for the team, and he would be incredibly unfortunate not to win this. However, Hamer for me has been an absolute delight to watch. I enjoy watching technical players and Hamer is the most technically talented I’ve seen in a city shirt, possibly ever (younger than some of you!) so my vote has gone to Hamer. But both deserve it.

Really tough one. Hamer the more complete player and his work rate all season has been a level above but can’t argue with Gyoks goals, many of which he’s made for himself. He also gives us an outlet that we’ve never seen anything like in my time supporting Cov.

Obviously Wilson isn’t even in the conversation but this season he’s come in and got the clean sheet record, scored a 95th minute equaliser and don’t forget his 95th minute penalty save against baggies (they would be above us if that went in)… his contribution this season could be absolutely pivotal.

Akpom would be shite in midfield - don’t get the point?
Amazing that on another thread you were arguing that you can't say a current manager is better or worse than old ones because it's different times, yet now you think it's totally fine to categorically state a certain player is definitely more deserving of an accolade despite the two playing totally different roles. Surely they can't be compared either?

As for the Akpom being shite in midfield, do you think Gyokeres would be as good in midfield? Would Hamer be as good up front? Hamer has a lot more to his game now - he does the defensive work, he can make key passes, he creates chances and is scoring goals. You could argue that is a bigger overall contribution.

If you bring up Hamer at the start of the season you also need to bring up the spells Gyokeres couldn't score.

Neither are perfect but both great at this level. If one had to be sold I would go for Gyokeres. Strikers are worth more. And Hamer would get his share of the goals

Gyokeres is the player of the season, for sure.

I enjoy watching Gus play more though - might even be more sad if he’s the one we sold in the summer.

You also wanted to get rid of Robins for a couple of years while he was taking us through the divisions and with a good chance of the playoffs for the Prem.

Not very knowledgeable are you.

A split decision then 😁

Would love to win the playoffs. Both would know we are their best bet. First names on the team sheet and see how far they could take us with a little investment out of the 100m promotion would bring.

Yet gyok has had more direct impact on games and played more games. We are talking player of the season not who we are selling.

So the person scoring is better than the one setting up his goals and also getting a fair few goals himself whilst helping out in defence?

There is no right to this. The only wrong is those who try to make out it isn't close.

You do realise that penalty save was last season?

I wonder how many times he has seen Akpom play this season. I must admit I have no idea how good he is or if he is better than Gyokeres or Hamer.

One thing is for sure, they're both brilliant players and we're lucky to have them, and to have them in the same side.

Credit too to the maligned recruitment team.

Hey dude show me where I have disagreed with you.

Love to see Gyokeres run at defences but also love watching Hamer rip defences apart with his runs and range of passes.
My main gripe with Gyokeres is his greed. But I still wouldn't change anything.

Gyok has set up one less goal than Hamer while being greedy that is bloody good going while scoring an extra 10 goals. I know they are different positions but both great players. Hamer gets me off my seat so often he's a classy player. Gyok rules the roost in most games though making space even when he isn't scoring.
