Well certainly if you go back to 2008, how much money could the club have saved if sisu had stated their aim was to own the stadium. And then tried to acquire it through amicable means?
They should’ve got the fans onside and launched a PR campaign against the council to sell them the stadium.

Instead the got everyone’s backs up and tried to bully a children’s charity.

They could’ve ended up with the stadium and saved millions

bloody hell you guys this is Great news and secures is at least 5 years with clearly aims of ownership and better deals as stated in the article.
The alternative is a make believe stadium at Warwick uni. Come on enjoy this news and let’s price ST well and get more up there. This team deserves it

If it had worked, would have been fine in the end... but it didn't, so it wasn't.

What I do wonder if how, having finally broken Wasps and ended up with the stadium in a position for purchase, it's then that SISU have run out of cash. Rare genius, that!

Does make me wonder if they did actually want it for free...(!)

Don’t get me wrong - he’s got a clean slate with me. He’s started well with the training ground investment

but let’s see what happens when the prem or Gyokeres money comes in. Remember SISU, bought Dann, Fox, Eastwood, Gunarsson, Westwood, Cranie in their first 12 months

I think this is indicative of the high amping of good will that football fans tend to give to new owners no matter what, especially when they’re coming in after a period of poor ownership.

Like you say, King hasn’t really done anything outside of expectations so far. That’s not a bad thing, it’s good that we’ve secured our future for the time being and everything is seemingly running smoothly, but I’m not sure it’s worth of heaps of praise. The real test will be the season ticket pricing and how the summer window goes.

I'm quite surprised to open this thread and see such a negative reaction. Are we that psychologically damaged from the SISU era?

At the moment what is going on within the playing field is of the highest importance, this deal, kicking the can down the road as it might be, enables us to focus on that. At the same time we have some short-to-medium scale security.

New club owners and new stadium owners have come together and sorted a 5 year deal. I'm happy enough with that for now. It also means no Wasps - which is worth celebrating alone.

King has got it sorted, I'm sure he'll get it sorted again when necessary. I honestly think we all need to chill out a bit. SISU aren't here anymore, neither are Wasps, and we've got a shot at the playoffs. There's a lot of reasons to be positive.

Now let's go stuff blues tomorrow and really lift the fucking place.

Think we already had a 8/9 term left on a 10 year licence. Before the Fraser's take over.

Nothing would surprise me...its a good deal for now depending on the terms (which we will never know about).

I heard the interview, that you can cherry pick that out of context when he was giving a what can happen scenario for agreeing a five year deal. The rational of his interview was that two new partners looking for a longer term future but hey shit can happen. Bellend? That’s what you get for putting our club on a more secure footing.

This time last year we had a 10 year deal and now we have 5. Rejoice

Think the key bit of the announcement is the last bit:
It is envisaged that the new licence agreement will provide the respective parties with flexibility to continue to refine their future strategies at the Arena with a view to entering into a long-term partnership.

That seems to suggest to me that at least one of the parties involved here doesn’t plan to be sticking around…

Its his job to consider that as a possibility.

Had Brian Richardson considered the possibility of relegation from the PL then we wouldn't have been a basket case for the last 20 years.

All sensible organisations consider worst case scenarios, and look at how the business would cope. Its called stress testing.
Its something all football clubs should do, but I'd wager very few actually look at.

That would be the opposite surely? A longer licence would increase the value of his asset
