They don't, no. That being said I'd be content with an owner that sorted our long term foundations - ground, training, academy etc - didn't charge interest on any loans they made, and spent whatever spare cash was generated from transfers back on the club / team. What we haven't even had is the foundations for years, so it's a long rebuilding job.

That'd be a start.

Naturally I'd love Joe Spunkathon to come in and make us one of the dick waving elite, but in the absence of that...
I’d like all that too, but is it really enough to be competitive long-term?

The wage/turnover ratio in the Championship is 125%. If you buy a team and run it in a way that makes financial sense, you’re automatically at a disadvantage. You don’t have to be mad to work here, but it helps.

Probably not. Puts us in decent position though where we don't *have* to be sold (so no fly by night loons coming in just because) but are in a position for when Mr. Spunkathon sets his giddy eye onto this fair city, and decides we deserve some cash obtained from the arms trade to lead us to glory evermore.

Our Doug has delivered all along the line, took over January, no players sold, Fisher out immediately, Sepalla 100% gone soon after, Wasps gone completely, Ryton being re-vamped, CBS secured and maybe just maybe the premier.

Not sure he made Wasps go....

As others have said, I think the big test will be what's done with the money when players go. If some goes into infrastructure, some to Robins etc and invested wisely then that will be what we need.

Have to be realistic it won't be as simple as all transfer cash in = all transfer cash in, as we will probably need some for running costs / wages. Hopefully the difference is that unlike SISU, we don't have eye watering interest rate payments handicapping us even more.

And yeah, SBT is probably right that it's not exactly living the dream, but then after SISU a bit of 'normality' would be progress!

Yeah that's what I mean, I know it isn't going to all be on players but it's how it's invested in the club in general.

Yeah thus far he seems to be a man of his word. Ryton overhaul is already a bonus. I wish the deal was longer at the CBS but who knows, I said it earlier a little tongue in cheek but maybe he is playing for time with the short deal. IIRC one season in the premier league is worth £84M. If the unthinkable happens and we’re in it next season stay up or go down we’d have the money to potentially buy the CBS of Fraiser group with some spare change even.

I guess my main concern is that Boddy can be slated for arranging a 10 year license to play at the CBS, King seems to be a business genius for arranging a license for half the length!

Yeah it's just too soon to hail him a hero. So far he's better than what we were used to, so were sisu.

I guess it depends on the end game. Could end up looking very silly if in 5 years time all he’s got to show for it is an another 5 year license of the back off this one.

I’m not really a member of the Boddy appreciation society but while he had the likes of Fisher & Sepalla to contend with and the Wasps situation never the same from one week to the next, making sure we kept within the rules did even he have an office ? must have been a bloody nightmare.

If the FG sold their interest before then we’ve got no home again

Why on earth would he want to buy the Arena?

I would hope he would tie up a 50 year lease with total control of the pitch as a Formal sub lease. That would make the lease as - if not more - valuable as owning the ACl lease

One thing you have to credit King for is keeping funding through the season

Without the intervention clearly we’d have had to sell Gyokeres and would not be where we are tomorrow

Still not sure what’s going to pan out. I suspect if we did get to promotion he’d look at sale options. I doubt he’s long term - his ideal that revenue will fund the club is cloud cuckoo land - but he’s kept us in it for this season

You say not in it for the long term, but all his talk of incremental progress, aiming to be in or around the playoffs each season, are words of somebody who is thinking long term rather than lets go for it with a pot of money, sign a few players and appoint Chris Coleman to lead us to promotion.
