If we got in the playoffs we'd have to beat teams the standard of Middlesbrough to go up too, so am not that worried about a game against them when they won't be 100% up for it unlike the playoffs, as effectively it's a playoff game for us anyway, isn't it.

Sunderland and WBA results bad.

Being in playoffs before last match was ideal, we could have technically rested players.

Boro perfect scenario: rest players and let us win knowing they will play us next two matches.

Also perfect for them:

Gyok injured, Hamer suspended for semi(s).

I hope they don’t employ dark arts and get their second choice centre backs to kick Gyok to injury (they get booked / sent off - what difference) and keep poking Gus until he lashes out.

Far fetched? You’d like to think so.

Ideally Blackburn draw against Luton. That will give them 66 points and a win against Millwall will give them a fighting chance of 6th, although they can't realistically catch us. Millwall would then finish on 68.

Except if Luton draw and Boro win against Rotherham (likely) then they play us still able to go 3rd.

West Brom are irrelevant imo - too big a goal swing needed (and that's assuming they beat Swansea, who'll inevitably have the ball most of the game).

Sunderland - I agree not ideal. Best result for us is Blackburn to draw at Luton. That gives them something to play for at Millwall, and a draw/Blackburn win leaves us in the play offs regardless.

Don’t think for a minute Middlesbrough will be “on the beach” next week, if I was Carrick I’d want us out of the way and not in the play-offs we are the form team and the last team I’d want to play on a home & away basis.

Those odds seems crazily low for us. Really doesn’t take that much for us to drop out in the grand scheme of things.

No but we do have to remember we currently have a 1 team buffer , if we were 6th I'd agree , we are clear favourites

While I tend to agree, and only see them as a minor threat, the experience of the last 2 seasons doesn't suggest the goal swing to West Brom is unsurmountable (check out Bristol Rovers last season and Forest the season before).

Sunderland are also a form team

Either way we've had another great season when you take this into account. Sum is greater than the parts or whatever the saying is.

I think they’d prefer to play us rather than Sunderland.

It’s crazy to think that when we beat Middlesbrough for our first win of the season both teams were in the bottom 3.

A City Luton Playoff Final really would be a win for sensible football wouldn’t it?
Middlesbrough are sensible, just with a moneyed owner. A proper one too who's a genuine fan, rescued them from bankruptcy, built them a new stadium...

I think some are writing off Boro a bit too easily. Yes, they may rest some of their better players but the replacements will also be wanting to fight and show Carrick that they are worthy of their places in the playoff starting 11.

What odds for a Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Millwall treble? Need to make sure that Blackburn don't beat Luton tomorrow first though. A draw would be perfect. They couldn't catch us but could still make 6th place by beating Millwall.

Our form suggests a draw at Middlesbrough. That would cover WBA turning around a deficit of 5GD.
