Asked about his future, Hamer said: “For me, the focus is now on a step up towards the Premier League, but a return to Feyenoord would also be extremely attractive. I always thought he may take the option to go back and also agree a deal for the season after next and move on a free. If we get promoted he will stay but not re-sign

It'd be a sensible move for him anyway, leaving aside criticism of the Dutch league, Feyenoord are a big club who regularly qualify for Europe.

Interesting interview but he's only suggesting he has unfinished business at Feyenoord as he was never given chances earlier in his career. Lad wanting to play for his hometown team, that's all. Nothing in that to say he's dropping everything now to leave us other than what the journalist adds without quotes.

He also says he's not being scouted by the Netherlands hierarchy while he's in the Championship which is something I can understand. Representing your country is the ultimate honour so he wants to be somewhere he can be seen. But back at the beginning of April, we weren't in the Playoffs and even we didn't expect to get in. Time changes minds.
