What f**ked it up for us was conceding the Luton goal and Dabo wasn't even on the pitch.

At least he has the courage to take one.
I cannot agree with this.
Yes, it is nerve racking. Yes it's difficult. He would have had to take one as one of the 11 on the field.
But it's his actual job. All footballers should expect to have to take a penalty at some point in their career.

I feel sorry for him, of course.
People say, someone has to miss. Not true. A goalkeeper should have to make a save to win a penalty shoot out. If any of us had been in goal for Luton the result would have been the same.

That 6th penalty is the most pressured.

Absolutely shocked Dabo was put in the line ahead of Bidwell (a set piece taker).

I said a few weeks ago that I thought Ben Wilson might be a better choice for pen 6. I guess keepers take pens against each other as part of their training - I’d back him.

I can imagine him giving the Luton keeper one of his daft grins banging it past him and then running over to give him a pat on the head - some daft mindgame or something.

Whoever thought Dabo was the guy for pen 6 and not Bidwell or Wilson needs to reflect. We saw a few weeks back the lack of certainty about who takes what pen with the Vik/ Godden “mild dispute”. Skipper on the pitch should sort things like that out.

Still gutted.

What makes people do that?!? I mean I get us being pissed at him in the heat of the moment (for clarity, not if racist!!), but people with no skin in the game to decide racist shite is the way forward?!? Should be an instant ban from those social media channels really. Prosecute if you can find them too. Absolutely no need.
Blame their parents for not bringing them up properly. Utter morons.

I might be wrong but I think you have to give the order of the penalty takers, Dabo was first of our sudden death group.
No you don’t have to give the referee the order/names of the players who are taking a penalty kick.
All players must take one and if all players score it starts again but 2nd time around the players can take the kicks in a different order. So for example, Dabs could be first player to take a kick 2nd time around instead of the 6th player which he was the first time if that makes sense?

Always said at 3-3 it’s pretty much pressure all they way

I repeat. Nobody has to miss. This is nonsense. He missed the target. None of their players did.
The goalkeeper should have to make a save. Neither did.

It really isn't that simple. The pressure on him was immense.

Even the best players in the world miss penalties. I am sure Messi has.

Maybe so but most penalty shoot outs involve a save being made. No issue with that. If you miss the target it's much worse than having one saved IMO

The notion no professional player should miss a penalty is nonsense, otherwise the the first ever penalty shoot out would still be going on now.

Yes, they really should hit the target but none of us have a fucking inkling what the pressure is like taking a penalty in the most lucrative game in world football, especially when you don't usually tale penalties.

Someone had to miss, it was Dabo, he didn't do I intentionally and he'll carry that with him forever.

He'll be hurting more than any of us are.

For what it's worth, I think we'd should be looking to move him on, but it's got nothing to do with yesterday

The wider debate here is Dabo does not deserve abuse for something that could happen to anyone - we were all angry annoyed but most have moved on - we have a great fixture list forming next season - a great manager and set up at the club - best in years and 20 M coming in - the future is bright and CCFC have given us as fans some amazing moments this season - don’t ruin it by focus on negative mate 👍

It was a shite penalty, but Dabo (or any player) doesn’t deserve abuse for that.

He obviously didn’t intend to miss

The whole concept of penalties is that someone will miss

It’s pot luck

People seem to be forgetting England’s current best striker missing a penalty very recently… lay off Dabo.

As has been said, the pendulum had swung right in our favour second half. Until Hamer had to go off and it went back the other way. I’m convined, CERTAIN, that with him we win it in the 90. We had them figured out and stretched very thin.

just one small point, if they did go on, I’d be reluctant to pay Wembley prices for refreshments.😀

Some great moments indeed, Hamer has been a joy to watch for 75% of the season once he sorted his disciplinary out.

His goal away at boro in the semi final is now probabaly ranked My favourite ever city goal, over Johnny Jackson’s at home to the Albion all those years ago.

Fadz has been immense for the most part aswell. The first half at Swansea at home is up there with the best first half’s of football we’ve ever seen.

Sheaf has grown into one hell of a player and Eccles has also emerged into a decent champ player and will get better next year.

But it means fuck all if you get to the final and let that clown blaze one over the bar, we may aswell of finished 4th from bottom. We’re still in the same league playing the same fucking teams we’ve played for the last 3 years

You deserve better. Ever thought of following Man City? Thought not.

This forum is for everyone’s views, we hear you…But maybe think about the fans who are reading your angst.

Move on. Things may get just that little bit better for all of us.

My apologies , let us stagnate where we are and just be grateful we get to visit sunny Plymouth. Maybe we can stay in this league aslong as Preston have? Wouldn’t that be lovely

As soon as I saw him walking up I knew we’d lost.

Yeah right

Tell me who the next player to miss a penalty is in advance. If it's for your team, you always think a player is going to miss, it's the way of football fans. Did you think we would score the first 5? If not, who did you think was going to miss? Whoever it was, you were wrong. For me, I thought Vik, Kelly and Sheaf were all going to miss as they took their pens. I was wrong.

Reasons to be cheerful:
1) the higher up the table you finish the better players you are likely to attract
2) we got some cash from the playoffs
3) more stable ownership than last year
4) we are in a league with a decent standard of football to watch and we win games
5) cheer the fuck up

I thought godden and vik would score, was nervous about the next three admittedly, but as soon as that clown started walking up the pitch , the writing was on the wall
