Just did a bit of a scan on the guys who went out on loan. Marco Rus has had some good games. Attacking Midfielder.

Any thoughts from you regarding players you watched?

I suspect now we are a Champ Club, the lack of investment may now show? Easier for breakthroughs when we were in L1/L2?

What's Obikwu like? Seemed to score quite a few in the U23s?

Looks like he has power going forward and a decent shot on him, not sure if he’ll break through this coming season though.

Perry has played a lot of U21's despite being a first year. Bit short for a CB though, and I think got injured last game of the season.

Always hear that Isaac Moore is promising but never seen him play. Also out injured.

Batanwi is a RWB who’s good going forwards, and is quite an athlete to be fair but also a good footballer which is how he’s already made the step up to u23s easily even though he’s like 16/17

I've seen him a couple of times and he's played on the left.

I wonder if the switch to u-21 from u-23 has not been a disater for these kids. To be developed enough for a full pro contract and a squad place by 21 is asking a great deal when the best u-21 players are coming on loan from the PL.

As always in football it’s a case of being good enough, our aspirations have increased and decisions made accordingly the released lads I’m sure will have other opportunities in the football pyramid.

Where is the space for them to develop going to come from? I think it's the PL driving this, in essence creating feeder clubs through the loan system at the expense of development. Many kids will end up missing out altogether where another year or two would have made all the difference. Perhaps limiting loans to 2 per club and half season max stay would help.

They will all have agents looking for options, I know a lad who left Cov at U/16 level last year now at Brentford.

I like the loan idea a lot. Sick of developing players for other clubs then having to start again. Look what can happen when our own youngsters get a chance!

I've said numerous times a squad limit of 40-45 pro's, regardless of age, if they came through the academy or whatever. Anyone not in that squad can be released on a free. Would get that decent young talent trickling down the leagues and giving the financial benefit of their development to the smaller clubs who iron out their creases and let the bigger clubs reap the rewards.
