Scottish side Aberdeen are ready to clinch a deal for Liverpool midfielder Leighton Clarkson - despite a late move from Coventry.

The Dons have been working in bringing back Clarkson permanently after a successful loan spell and they are set to meet the asking price.

Coventry took a strong interest this week as they try to bolster their squad for the next promotion push.

However the Aberdeen move appeals to Clarkson who is willing to show what he can do in the SPFL.

He was on loan at Aberdeen last year so why does Nixon think he needs to show what he can do in the SPFL?

Nixon is clueless as fuck again.

Decent player not one that would improve our current XI

Last season statistics.

Appearances: 37
Goals: 6
Assists: 9

Not bad for a CM, less goals in all comps than Jamie Allen, but more assists.

A good player, wouldn't be a priority signing for me though, need to strengthen in other areas of the pitch.

Yeah he's not bad but as you say not better than the first XI and he is not likely to want to come unless he is in the first team.

As you said there's other areas we need to address first like the defence which is less than threadbare at the moment.

Another thing on Clarkson, if Sky are to be believed playing in Europe was a major factor in Clarkson choosing Aberdeen.

Not something we can offer. As I said before, he's a good player, add to that I'm happy we are looking at this type of player, but our priority should be other areas of the pitch, for which are options are short.

Like you said, people are going to be pissed off as we didn'tget him as per, but shows we are looking into the right sort of players.

Ideally you are correct, but in terms of loan signings the majority of the best available from the PL won't become apparent until August, once the season is up and running.

Ross Mcrorie from Aberdeen

been serious wed've taken all 3 of them wouldn't we? That's serious intent of sorting your weak points early in the window.

They sold their best player in January though so have money in the bank.

Dickie lost the plot last season (QPR fans really didn't rate him) but obviously seemed decent a couple of seasons back.
Ross McRorie from Aberdeen (SPL - could be ???_who knows what from that league, which is full of L1 level players)
Haydon Roberts - played on loan at Derby

Might be good signings, might not be (although I take our point about getting it done early)

Unlike Bristol, we didn’t know what league we’d be in until the playoffs were over.

Early transfers doesn’t really mean anything. MR and Viveash know what they’re doing so we’ve just got to be patient.
