I remember looking at the teams stats, players previous clubs and goals scored etc in pre @eason and it stated cody mc donald scored 25 goals in 40 odd games either on loan from us or at his previous club. He should get a decent run in the side. Ok, hes an andy cole type player, misses alot of chances, but he will score goals.

Just double checked there, he scored 25 in 41 games on loan to gillingham in the 2010 - 2011 season.

Thats more goals than i can remember any city player scoring in 15 odd years. Pity it wasnt while playing 4 us

Thing is, everything Lynch said about the game on Saturday came true, so I think we have to believe him when he says the club aren't happy with the way he came back in pre-season in not good shape. I believe he alluded to 'Eastwood like.'

I would definitely accept this as being true and the case, otherwise you would have to ask why on earth aren't we picking him!

When you say missed chances...? Take away Yeovil tell me when he's really missed anymore than anyone else!?
He's hit the post 4/5 times, that's down to luck!

He did seem to still get in some good positions in the first games, just missed his chances.
To me that is lack of confidence more than anything, something that all the squad seem low on. ( apart from McGoldrick )

Cody is the man to fire us outta this mess. I actually thought he had a chance of being leagues top scorer pre season. He could still hit 15 odd goals this season. Plenty of time left

Absolutely agree, constant goal threat in my eyes, against Bury almost scored a great goal, did everything right but it was a good save by the keeper. Think him and McGoldrick will score plenty between them.

Plus he seem unfit against birmingham..didn't stop chasing!

I have to say his fitness has'nt appeared to be a problem while he was getting a start,His conversion rate this season on genuine chances i would put at 1in 4,was hoping for more like 1in2.:(

Maybe he's just the sort you have to keep playing to get fit.. poor trainer..may not be so sharp till he gets 6 games, then gets sharper..

I've found the treatment of Cody baffling to be honest .Considering we had to sell a top defensive prospect to pay his £500k. fee,we certainly hav'nt seen enough of him to get him firing on all cylinders .No return on the investment, and reducing the prospect of a future fee.

How is it baffling though when everything else Lynch said was bang on the money?

If he was right about everything else then why isn't he right about this?

In as much as the same factors were attributed to Freddy, rightly or wrongly there was some sceptisism around whether he played or not due to fees /wages . The current speculation re; Cody is similar ,yet Thorns training methods or lack of them are cited over lack of fitness among the entire squad ,so how come Freddy was Solely singled out ,along now with cody?
The evidence of the games he's played did'nt suggest this.

i can't see it being a money issue more of a fitness issue or hes not happy with his new bouns,we are still bringing players so their must be some money somwhere

This what Lynch said on Friday.

Firstly talking about the players response to Robbins and then about the team for Saturday.

Sounds like his head is well and truly screwed on. Couldn't talk more highly of him. Interesting news is that Hussey will be sold in January was told in meeting yesterday. Big Will at the back dropped from the team cus he cant speak English and brown being put back to CB. Fleck to start tomorrow as will the killer at left back. And the most important news is that Cody is unfit (Freddy Eastwood) style and will again occupy the bench. Sorry late reply went out last night and was a messy one hahaa!

.Hussey dropped and to be sold

.Cody unfit thats why hes not starting

.The edge has been dropped cant speak english

.Fleck to start tomorrow

.Brown back at CB

.Couldnt speak any higher for robbins

edge can speak english though, hes one of the few players to do so many video interviews

not saying its not true jsut think thats not a valid excuse to drop him

So basically he said Hussey dropped (which he was), Kilbane at left back (which he was) Edge dropped (which he was), Fleck starting in midfield (which he was), Brown back in at centre back (which he was) and Cody unfit and on the bench (which he was).

And Lynch did later go on to say that it was lack of communication as to why Edge was dropped. That his English wasn't good enough when communicating on the pitch.

If Cody IS fit then why isn't he playing? Doesn't make sense. He's our biggest goal threat. The lack of fitness/condition thing would explain why.

Granted he was right with the majority of what he said, but by the looks of it Cody isn't anywhere near Freddys physique

If the rumour about him being dropped over bonuses is true, this fitness story leak would be a convenient way of ensuring that the fans stay against him.

He doesn't look unfit to me: he came back from pre-season looking much leaner and meaner. He's closed down much more this season than previously and clearly has plenty of hunger to play and score. He should be playing. He's miles fitter than Eastwood-and Fleck, for that matter.

He certainly looks it.

The word about the bonuses though was that McDonald and McSheffrey were the two players not playing because of the bonus row and Sheff then played on Saturday.

Last game McDonald played was against Burton in the cup. He was substituted after 46 mins.

Game before that he was substituted after 59 mins.

Game before that (Brum) he played the whole 90 mins.

Game before that, substituted on 70 mins

The last 4 games he's started he has only finished the game in 1 of them. The other 3 occasions he was substituted each time (2 of which were quite early on into the games).

What is this bonus issue? Is he gonna trigger a bonus if he plays more games? Im sorry but i just dont believe that. With cody being our main striker (that scores) why wasnt he moved on pre season if he wasnt going to play. Sounds like a load of balls if u ask me

as i see it the bonus for winning has been chopped so the players wont play

Exactamon!

But maybe it is saying that if they had have got the bonus they may have tried a tad harder and maybe we would have won games.
