Motherwell and St Mirren are interested in Coventry City left-back Josh Reid.

The 20-year-old is yet to feature in the first team at Coventry, since moving from Ross County in January 2021.

The English Championship side are open to loan offers for the player.

Be interesting if he goes and slots straight into an SPL team but not even a look in here?

As much as you can take from his game against Nuneaton he looks like a traditional full back rather than the wing backs we use and to small to play inside.

Deffo needs a loan this year, I'd rather it in league 2 or 1 though. MR said it took Reid 6 months to get fit and up to speed with our training, so why would we loan him back there unless we are cutting our losses?

He doesn’t need a loan, he needs to get off the wage bill. It’s clear Robins doesn’t rate him at all, a loan isn’t going to change that.

We bought a traditional left back and then started playing wing backs more, hopefully we have inserted a big sell on clause

Another class signing then
Some you win, some you lose.
In this case we are better off trying to off load him and bringing in another development player.

Not every player makes the grade, but you try again.

Or we use the saved wages to add to the offer already made to Hamer to persuade him to sign a new contract. Now that would be good business.

Will be interesting to see what the club's strategy with the U23s is this season.

With Reid going that's the 9th U23 player to depart this summer already. I presume Rus, Tavares and possibly Tyler will be loaned out and they'll try to move Cashman on permanently, of failing that on loan.

Shame we he can’t go to Motherwell and we use it as a sweetener for Max Johnston, RWB who’s highly rated and scores goals too.

Or, more the more likely scenario is that we’re not interested in this player…

It's u-21 now (since last season) and that's part of the difficulty, I think. There's a great gulf between most u-21 players and full-pro Championship. For every Calum Doyle there must be 10 or more others who develop more slowly or just reach their limits earlier.
