Simms is fine as a signing but valuing him at £4 million is excessive to me, is he really worth 3x what we paid for Gyokeres for two years ago?

Think you’re expecting too much

he’s a good player at this level
Agree - if we expect to replace Vik with another CF of a similar level, then we're being extremely optimistic. However, I'm very hopeful that with the quality of our coaching staff that any players who are recruited will improve during their time here.
The coaching staff may adjust some elements of the way we play to reflect the strengths of new players.

If we were to sign both Yates and Simms I’d be happy with that. I’d trust the coaching staff to get the best out of them and I’m confident the quality of our midfield should we keep Hamer would see us score consistently.

A goal every 162 minutes at this level suggests maybe he is when you consider Vics return rate in the championship prior to us buying him
A very small sample size you are taking that from, Gyokeres was also a full international and had a good youth record and had scored goals in Sweden previously.

Simms would be a good signing but i think £4 million is a massive over valuation for him, £1.5 million would a fair price

What is Simms contact situation like? If he has a far amount of time left wouldn't Everton be wiser to loan him out for a season and see how he goes.

That’s a stretch. Simms is comfortably £3.5-4m in my opinion. Decent scoring records at both Blackpool (L1 at the time) and Sunderland. Time on his side.

Well definitely need a couple of strikers and good ones usually cost a bit so I wouldn't be surprised to see us stick a big chunk of our budget up front.

Keep Hamer, get a couple of good strikers, McNally, a RWB, then the rest loans…+ the two lads from Stevenage…

Tom McIntyre from Reading, Two championship clubs looking at him as well as Scottish teams, going off the fact we need about 3/4 CBs we've surely got to be interested, wouldn't cost alot either and a solid enough player.

I really hope we sign a top right wing back with express pace

this is a key key signing in my opinion

Fair point, the sample is small but Simms also has done reasonably well wherever he has played. No international record to speak of but the quality of players that are eligible for England are a world apart. 3-4 mil would be a fairly low risk investment IMO.

Simms just doesn’t excite me. Everything I’ve seen of him is cumbersome and just not pleasing on the eye. I’d be pleased with Yates.

I think most would have described Gyokeres as cumbersome two seasons ago based on his spell at Swansea & half a season here.

He's 4 years younger than Yates and scored 7 in 17 appearances in this league last season. I don't think we could get many better on paper than him.

Depending what percentage of the fee Brighton are due to get, I'd rate Simms at around 15 million if he was the make weight in the Vik deal.😉
