Not sure if it is correct or not. However there is a philosophy that footballers don't perform well when there is constant change and uncertainty.

I did not want the dustuption of the sacking of another manager, however it has happened.

I then thought well the new manager has been told stick with the squad and staff. So I thought as long as it happens quickly, we may only suffer a couple of defeats due to the disruption.

Instead it dragged on and we had 5 defeats.

Now Robins has brought in a new coach and 4 new players. So more dustuption.

Not sure how I feel about this. I thought the team was already good enough to go up.

Is he doing the right thing changing things again?

I would have said no before, but Robins for some reason gives me confidence.

As far as I'm concerned it's just another excuse for the players to under perform. Most of us experience change on a daily basis in our working lives and whilst it's never ideal, we'd soon be shown the door if our performance levels drop.

I am not saying it is excusable. I am with u they are namby pambies.
However it does seem to be a well backed philosophy about football teams. When they are settled they do well.

well we had stability with thorn and look how that turned out?

say what you want about sacking managers but at least it kept us in championship each year, first time we kept a manager longer than that we got relegated

saying that i think robins could be the man we should stick with.

Robbins fills me with alot more confidence than other managers in present years.

He also seems to be a man who knows his own mind and bringing in a few players with pace and some to back up for other positions can only be a good thing. We need players knowing if they do not perform week in week out they will not get a start and will have competition for their places.

Not overly convinced by telling players they are already surplus to requirements mind.

Unless they are serious bad eggs, I'm not sure that will do much for overall squad confidence.

well saying that they gave us 100% every game under thorn didnt help either

they are not earnign their money at cov and need the strict approach

Changes need to be made as its pretty clear we are not going to see a remarkable turn around without changing some of the team. Any player that is having a bad effect within the club and that is attitude as well as peformance should be got rid of asap and I think Robins will do that pretty quickly. We don't have time to pussy foot around we'll soon be needing a 3 wins to get out of the relegation zone and then we'll be in the shit. Let's get 11 players who want to play for us and have the ability to do well.

I guess in any working environment secretive ownership deals amongst unpopular top brass, changes to bonuses, management, employees, work processes and seeing customers fleeing in droves are not conducive with a happy work force producing a satisfactory end product.

I totally see your point as I've always been one for giving people a chance. I know people say AT had a chance last season but the irony is that he's the only manager to get us any points this season. I think I would've maybe given AT 2 or 3 more league games to see if he would've done anything differently. To be fair, I suspect he might not have done much more so maybe the right decision was made.

I was neither for nor against the appointment of Robins. As unlikely as it was, I would've prefered someone like Di Canio. That said, out of the final shortlist, they picked the right man from the final 3.

I've also been impressed by the speed at which he's brought in one of his own backroom staff and some squad additions. For the past few years we've had a lightweight squad which has been hampered by injury and suspension. At least we have a bit of depth now.

Hahaha.

This is priceless, the OP must be on a wind up. He harked back to the glorious honeymoon period of 'you know who' and based his support on this period of change.

This forum is always good for a laugh, keep up the good work.

glad to be of service!

Never one for sacking managers. I believe if you have brought that manager in and you have done your research. Then back them. They knew what AB was all about. I didn't enjoy his football. I preferred AT.

However please if there is a post I have done where it says sacking managers is a good idea please remind me of it.

Ask your west ham friends sure they will explain to you that someone appreciating the new manager does not mean you agree with sacking managers.

I will support Robins it does not mean I agree with the sacking of AT.

If we didn't sack Reid, Adams and Dowie when we did we would have been relegated in those seasons.

So adopting your logic would have meant League 1 football years ago.

We adopted stability last season. Look where it got us.

I don't profess to know all the answers , however , it wasn't working as it was, was it? We need a change, I just hope the changes are for the better and then the pride I have for this club will no longer be mis-guided!!

The owners said it was their fault. Selling players and not replacing them. There is no point me and you going round and round on this one again.
They backed him in the market this season but didn't wait to see how it will pan out.
You will say up shitstreet I will say promotion. Unfortunately we will never know.
Anyway my point is chopping and changing managers 12 in 12 Years or whatever it is, is not the way forward.

Our aim has always been to get back in the prem sacking managers every season has failed.

I get a good feeling about robins. Just wonder if he really did need to bring in 4 New players or whether he could have done the business with this bunch.

Is bringing new players going to drive everyone on or will it just cause more unsettlement.

Good question, was it? Who knows after three league games, impossible to say really. Confident about Robins though.

We will do well to avoid relegation. The squad is dire.

Robins is bringing in 3 month loans to make the current squad understand they are not indispensable.. some will be going the other way soon I'll wager.. so those that are left better shape up!

I think it is a fantastic squad and other issues are causing the problems.

Before the 5 defeats since AT was sacked I am sure you were saying this squad is good enough to go up.

You keep chirping on about the unbeaten (no win) record of Thorn against one team lower than us and another that is heading south. Look at the real facts;

We haven't won one league game since March.

We haven't kept a cleansheet for as long.

Our away record in the last 2 years has to be the worst in Britain.

Despite the ridiculous "bigging up" of McDonald we have no proven goalscorer at this level

The majority of the wage bill is tied up in poor under-performing players.

We have an imbalanced squad which has been poorly chosen with many players not of the type to get out of this division. Until we saw them they were just names. Now we have and they are not good enough. In fact I would go further and say that some of the players who were on fairly modest wages who were definately not the managers' favourites (McPake/Deegan) have been released to be replaced by inferior replacements. None of this bodes well.

We will continue to struggle. We will lose to Oldham (it's away) and MK Dons is a big challenge. I do not see this squad winning many matches in this league.

Prior to the manager getting sacked then us losing 5 matches during the ensuing period of instability. Did you look at this squad and post on here that this squad should be top six as a minimum?

I agree that this is his tactic. Hope it works it is a 50 50. Either they will step up to the plate or it will create more dustuption and instability and we then have to wait to next season to see robin's boys to kick into action.

I repeat they were just names and you had to assume the players signed were of sufficient quality. Now we have seen them play and they are not. All but 3 of the summer signings look a long way from being good enough. Deegan I thought was poor but is better than Jennings and McPake (again average) is miles better than the 3 centre backs we have wasted wages on.

Even before I assesed the squad I questioned the ability to score goals. Ball is a ridiculous signing and Elliot is average at best.

Again you say prior to the sacking as if the implication is we would have been better off. We really would not. Look at the stats - no wins, no away wins, no clean sheets.

I now conclude we have to get stability in terms of just remaining in this league and at least ridding ourselves of some of the high paid poor performing players. This will allow us next season to rebuild the squad again and also to benefit from a real manager and his training methods.

We are a mess.

Draw away to Yeovil. First game in league one I think 5 new signings were involved

Draw at home to the favourites

Destroy bury for 45, these same players who will do well to stay in this division ripped bury apart.

Screw up against bury for 45 minutes draw 2-2.

Sack manager

Beat Birmingham 3 - 2

Same players who will do well to stay in this division beat Birmingham.

Lose 5 on the trot.

Now do you think it is purely an ability thing or is it possiblly atmosphere, instability attitude and unsettlement?

We haven't won any games so its an ability thing. Wouldn't read anything into the Birmingham game either - any team can win one game - and Birmingham may well be League One next season. By the way "draw at home to favourites" - weren't we one of the favourites as well?

Enough to get in play offs if attitude and commitment is right, purely ability.....

Murphy Yes - has done it before
Clarke Yes - has done the business a level higher
Wood Yes - Was captain at this level for Sheff weds
Brown - ability I think so, concentration not sure
Hussey - ability yes attitude concentration no
Malaga ?
Edge ?
Cameron performed at a level above
Jennings good enough as a DM to get promoted
Baker ability done it a level above
Barton done it at this level
Fleck just needs fitness.
Cody done it at thus level.
Sheff done it as this level.
Mcgoldrick done it as this level

Grendel

Barton, Cody and McSheffery have done nothing at this level. Baker apparantly did - in a side that finished bottom.

Jennings and Fleck are yet to prove anything.

Maybe the squad of players we have are just crap? I wonder who's fault that is,probably the fans according to some on here.

In my opinion its not abilty its purely desire. the players at the moment are playing with fear. When they go ahead they stop playing because they are so scared of conceding a goal and letting another lead slip. Away from home we are just a joke we play games like we have lost already. The players need to find a way to win and be positive, If robbins identifies players that he thinks are negative to the squad then regardless of abilty he will let them go. We currently go out for games thinking a bad result or descions wont go our way or that we have been unlucky. We have at times out played teams hit the post or bar said we were unlucky then concede a gaol and blame the run of things not going our way.

if it takes 20 new players to come in and start to belive then thats what i want. Abilty wise this squad is more than capable, character wise we have been found wanting.
