The question about this style of play was always what happens when everything isn’t going your way and it seems they have no plan for that

They’ve asked for batting pitches thinking they can smash their way past any score but they’ve been undone by just decent test match bowling. The Aussies have ignored bazball and just played normal test cricket

And boy do they do it well. Garden slogging might work against second tier but not the best

Catches been the difference, had we took the catches we should have we would have got australia out for less than 150 and would be looking at a first innings right now

Fair point, but it's not just catches, we've got to be able to bat a bit too.... And we've just thrown away another wicket to an obvious trap. Brainless.

That was totally clueless. They're not international standard in brain power are they.

Possibly one of the most disappointing Ashes series for some time. We need to get a collective sick note and bow out of the next series in Oz

IT's been the same all series... IF we take our chances, we could easily be 2-0 up, despite having not played all that well

Switched off to go and run some errands, both surprised and not that we've got it this close thanks to Stokes

Basically we have a couple of chaps with balls, Stokes and Wood who set the tone. Need to knock these over for less than 200 to stand a chance

Missed chances has been the only real difference between the teams. Smiths just immense in slips and outfield….us on the other hand !! Still in with a shout but need quick wickets

Could have been so much worse.

England have got the same problem the Bears have got. Top order misfires too often and you’re relying on the same couple of batters, Root and Stokes, to regularly bail everyone else out of the shit

The frustration is so many catches going down and so many wickets being given away

England should do to Bairstow what he does to the ball.

Id keep him in as batsman and hope he can get his mind straight if he’s just going the one job but surely can’t keep place behind stumps. Lucky latest one (which was tough) didn’t cost us

Get effort by Wood ! Deserved more for his efforts

At the moment his batting is as bad as his keeping, if he was a county player he wouldn’t be near getting a place, but it’s harder to get dropped than stay in this side.

Yeah but there’s no doubt the fuck ups behind the stumps will have effected him mentally. Was batting superbly before breaking his leg.

If stokes isn’t bowling I’d be tempted to have him at 3 or if not Root with Bairstow or Brook at five

ps just as I’m typing he snaffles one !! 😂

Did well to keep ourselves in that in the final session. Sun shining, not much movement and a bowler down but kept control of run rate. If we can get these pair out early…..

*it’s the hope…

Looks like the only cricket we'll be seeing from today till Monday will be a morning session tomorrow (even then only if the forecast holds up)
So that'll be the 3rd test drawn - Aussies retain ashes and meaning we will avoid my predicted 5-0 reverse.
4 losses and a draw it will be then. (Again, weather permitting.)
