?

Have we pissed him off??
King challenged him to a dick measuring contest and the whole dressing room stood in awe as Doug unleashed an absolute meat mallet and pulverised Hamers cocktail sausage into something barely even recognisable as a penis anymore. He can no longer look his teammates in the eye and asked his agent to contact all clubs with a sub 3-inch changing room average.

15m would be a great deal but I'd still rather he signs a new contract and keep part of what made us so successful last year. I'd back us to sign some decent players but both Gus and Gyok took a fee seasons to get to their peak.

I know it's not part of the model we are trying to achieve, but I would rather he leaves on a free than lose him and Vik in the same window. We have no idea what goes on behind the scenes but he doesn't seem like the type of player who's gonna down tools after Xmas even if he knows he's leaving on a free. If he kicks up a fuss then obviously we have no choice.

The £15m (before add ons) we've got from Vik should be enough to build a squad assuming we are able to reinvest half.

Not if we're not offered what we want
Very true, but I imagine the club hasn’t gave him a contract that meets his demands, otherwise he’d have signed by now.

I’m not talking ridiculous figures as I could understand that from the clubs perspective of course, but for supposed 20 grand we should be doing this

if we get 15 for him I’d take it, but delusional to think we’ll be up there next year without couple seasons of consolidation

Why is it? If we spend it wisely we can be a much better team than last year and won't have to hope 2 players drag us to victory.

I love your bipolar moods swings on the future of Coventry City though

In your opinion? I think they’ll be really hard to replace, that’s your opinion that we’ll be a better team.

I disagree, so will many Cov fans

I love it when you get slightly personal when you disagree with someone’s opinion 👍
Not personal, it's just that in any given day you can have us being really good to being relegated i.e. a bipolar view of the future of Coventry City.

He's not going anywhere if he doesn't want to go. I've a horrible feeling he's going to sit tight and run his contract down.

You spent the night after the Play Off final telling us we are fucked and going down.
Yeah because I was upset and irrational as we lost the biggest game of my life.

I do genuinely get your point, but to expect rationality at that point is pretty unrealistic

Over 2000 posts in just over a year probably means you're repeating yourself a lot.

There definitely isn't that much to talk about.

Not necessarily true. If he's had his head turn by thoughts of Prem League, then there no way the club can responsibly offer him enough to stay.

There’s the nonsense about him “loving the club” - like all players in a short career it’s about maximising your opportunity

This is in no way a criticism of you or your opinion, it's just a technique that might be worth trying to help see things from a rational perspective.

Try to take the emotion out of it for a moment and think with a logical, reasoned mind. Considering only the facts, try to answer the following questions:

1) Have we as a club made positive progress year on year since Mark Robins became manager?

2) Has Mark Robins or any other member of the management of the club said or done anything recently to make you doubt that they are in any way less committed or otherwise unable to continue the upward trajectory of the club?

3) Do you have any evidence that our budget or off-field business is in any way worse than the last 6 seasons?

4) Have we begin to recruit to replace players lost from last season?

5) Do we still have time to recruit more players?

6) Are other teams in the division in a similar position to us at this stage of pre-season?

Sell Hamer and replace with 2 more players ! FFS we can only put 11 outfielders on the pitch not 12 . He’s massive and DK needs to put his hand in his pocket and KEEP Hamer . He’s the engine that drives our team

So if a premier club did want him and offers him £50k a week over 4 years we need to match that?

We lose both Vic and Gus in this window, we're in a bit of bother. It leaves a huge hole, it shouldn't be underestimated just how good they are.

When I say bother, I'm not suggesting we'd be in any trouble next season, but I couldn't see us pushing on from last term. It would require a comprehensive rebuild, and some of the signings will flop, it is inevitable. We have the right people in charge of course, but you feel the rebuild might take a couple of years to bear fruit.

We have to do what it takes to keep him for another season imo. 20K per week would only be an annual uplift of 500K or so. Surely we pay that rather than pay £2-3 million + wages for a replacement unlikely to be anywhere near his level (if of course he'd be willing to stay for that sort of money).
It's a brilliant post that I entirely agree with, but then you went and used the "word" uptick! Increase or rise, maybe?

Like with Vik and the fee we got for him, £16m is too much to turn down.

People won't like it, but longer term we are in a brilliant position with those pounds. A season in mid-table and time to spend the money properly over the next 2 years isn't a bad option as long as we secure our status at this level. Making £30m+ of profit on two previously unknown players is incredible.
Nonsense

No you take the money but posters on here are saying replace him with 2 players . It’s not that easy to get quality players like Hamer , if it was then the clubs looking at Hamer would be looking elsewhere
