None of the players we loaned out last season (apart from maybe Rus, I guess?) have any chance of bothering our first team and no loan spell is going to change that. We’re not loaning these guys out to hone them into superstars, we’re doing it to manage numbers - it doesn’t matter where they go.

Different story if we’re talking about young players who actually have a future here (Howley, Burroughs), but our squad is so small that we need to keep them around.
I mean, you're right about the players but you need to show that you are professional and actually have plans for development if you hope to recruit better young players into your setup.
Rus probably is the only one that may trouble the squad but they didn't appear to even have a plan for him and they clearly rate him as he's just signed a new contract.
Hoping to see our young players sent out on much more well thought out loan spells this season.

Howley and tavares I expect will be loaned out. Tyler himself mentioned a loan when he signed his new contract

If we really want a guy who’s mostly famous for scoring loads at the lower levels to be one of our main strikers this season, why not just wait for Tavares to come back?
Because Tavares hasn’t done that? i hope I’m wrong but he seems to be going the same route as Ponticelli.

Tavares needs a loan to get back to fitness, but I think Howley would benefit from training every day with a better calibre of player. I imagine he’ll see a bit of first team action too.
Difficult to see him getting a look in really in front of 3 (2?) new strikers on top of the injury.

Agreed. Numerous times in the last 3-4 seasons we’ve had players going out and either not getting game time or, in some circumstances, not making matchday squads. I get we can’t dictate too much but it’s very scattergun.

Even back to Eccles going out on loan and making 14 appearances for Gillingham in 6 months. It wasn’t great - ok, doesn’t seem to have affected him too much but felt a wasted opportunity at the time.

Seems to be have used as a stepping stone out of the club for quite a few of them. In L1 it was much easier for the younger players to make the 1st them squad than it will ever be in the C/ship

I think the promise of being around a Championship first team (if you’re up to standard) and having an established pipeline to first team football is a greater pull to young players than the promise of a loan to a L1 or L2 side.

I fail to see the problem - Eccles has developed really well. If anything his career path is a sign that it’s better to keep our most talented young players close by, rather than farm them out for years at a time.

Eccles was there for 3 months and played almost every game.

He started 10 of 19 league games he was available for

And didn’t make it onto the pitch in 7. Over a third of the games he spent there he didn’t get onto the pitch. Not what I would call a successful loan spell.

He needs a loan to actually play first team football and see if he's good enough for the long-term. He's 22 but gets treated like he's 5 years younger.

Lets be honest he just needs a new club in L2 or National League - never going to make it here

Is there anything in the weekend link with Dutch striker Dylan Vente?

AT: “I’m hearing that there’s not a lot in it, to be honest. It emerged at the weekend from a journalist in the Netherlands who claimed the striker had been left out of Roda JC’s pre-season friendly and was travelling to England to talk to Coventry and Swansea. However, from the inquiries I have made, no-one seems to have heard anything about him over here. I also spoke to my opposite number who covers Swansea for Walesonline and it’s not a name that they’ve heard at their end either.

“Interestingly, Swansea are signing Jerry Yates from Blackpool, who was also linked with Coventry, of course, in recent weeks. So he appears to be their main striker target of the summer.”

I think his agent has been very busy creating Internet traffic.

I am starting to come to the conclusion that we have more ITK's than Not ITK's.
We should start a league table of ITK's
We could have playoffs and relegation!

All I know is that MR doesn't tend to sign 28 year olds or older, and he prefers young ambitious players that are hungry for success and willing to work hard. He also doesn't pay sky high wages, and looks to recruit players that can potentially return a profit.

If you apply the above rational to any rumour, you can quickly rule most out as BS.
Also any rumour that stems from Alan Nixon should be treated with suspicion.

We need a single scale showing postive/negative knowledge for the forums ITKs.

Get a rumour right, you move up the list with 1 ITK, 2 ITK etc.

Get them wrong however, you move down 2 ITK, 1 ITK, 0 or No Clue then down to 1 ITD, 2 ITD etc.

ITD ? In the Dark !
