Not for me … The higher up the pyramid you go the more your strikers need pace. It’s why Godden struggles in the Championship but shines in Lg 1.

Agree. Want to see some pace up front with Simms or as options from the bench.

£5m for a 28 year old who isn’t necessarily prolific isn’t for me.
Nothing against signing someone over 25 for once but I can't imagine that's where we'd drop a big sum if we were going to. Seems like a 1.5-2 million signing to me. Valuation looks way off.

And Robins said in his post-match, “what we need now is pace”. So I can’t see it being Gallagher.

Adam Armstrong?! Sorry, totally wishful thinking there! 😂

Missed the first 20 minutes of yesterdays game so difficult to come to any conclusions but it looks to me getting the right partner for Simms is essential, will be linked to a few and we may have someone in the frame, will cost, fee and wages don’t know about Gallagher so can’t comment but of those I have seen last season someone like Archer would be okay but for me I’d like Joel Piroe who seems to be available, ticks the box and 41 goals in 88 games not to be sneered at, is being strongly linked to the other side of the M69 too, would be a bit of a coup to pinch him from under their nose.

Agreed. Pacy young forward and a good young prospect such as Leaburn would suit me

We need a second striker to play off and bring other into the game. A workhorse who will do the dirty work. Gallagher might not be the answer but it's the right mould which would allow Simms to focus on being a penalty box striker

You are aware how much Piroe will cost right?

That name cropped up again in a conversation I had with someone, he’s a big unit standing over 6ft 5in. and suppose to be very pacy only about 19 so would be one more for the future, we need a partner now for Simms. loan perhaps ?

We’re gonna get linked to everyone it seems. Hope this is just paper talk, that money for that record at that age? No thanks.

Think you are exaggerating a bit there.
But as I said if it’s too much we wouldn’t buy him would we.

MATTY GODDEN DOES NOT STRUGGLE IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP (LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE AT THE BACK)

26 goal involvements in 57 games is not a struggle (last 2 seasons)

thanks for coming to my ted talk

He’s not good enough to be in the first 11

We’ve changed the way we play to be more direct and from my POV, it’s a bit difficult to see where Godden fits in. He’s a great poacher and works hard for the team but his impact is limited.

Personally, it feels like a good time to cash in if we’ve got options lined up.

Sam Gallagher has consistently got a 1 in 4-5 game ratio in Championship. Would it really be that bad a signing?

You've just said that we could cash in on godden who is a 1 in 3 champ player to bring gallagher in who is pretty wank

It's a no from me , the transfer in general , we can do much better for the money

He’s scored 26 goals in 80 championship games. He’s a poacher, a good finisher, works hard etc but he’s struggled to stay fit for any protracted period and often matches pass him by … no pace, no trick, no physique. ….. great 3rd or 4th choice striker. That’s his level now.

if we get offered £750k or more I’d take it ….

Why is he ‘pretty wank?’

I can’t see Godden being a starter after our transfer business is complete. He hit some really good form in our second Championship season but either side of that was struggle with injuries or form.
