Allen - 3 weeks behind the others, by all accounts hes over the pericarditis thank god, so you would say maybe a place on the bench v leicester?
DaSilva - a knock wasnt it? Will miss tonight but meant to be available Saturday so should be no worries for the first game
O'Hare - back on the grass mid August apparently so October return?
Tavares - Not a clue anyone know?

e.g. he maybe under doctors orders to take it relatively easy for 4/6 weeks or something.

If he's been given the all clear to carry on as normal then you'd imagine he'd be OK for a spot on the bench soon, as he seems naturally a very fit bloke.

That being said, I expect him to feature a bit less this season anyway.

Sakamoto is untested at this level and we don't really know how quickly or whether he will adjust and Palmer's fitness is always an issue. So I suspect unless we strengthen we will see plenty of Allen. I really hope we get a good AM on loan.

Should also say I am not convinced Sakamoto will play centrally. I incline to the Shmmeee theory.

Well it depends on Palmer's fitness. If, and it is a big if, he can stay fit then he'll play more than Allen.

But Allen seems to be incredibly durable which is a big plus point and so yes he will get decent game time.

I said he will feature a 'bit less', I didn't say he will be limited to a few appearances here and there

O'Hare won't be back in contention in October, nearer Christmas.

With a condition that can be extremely painful and is exacerbated by exercise. He'll be being monitored very carefully and I would be amazed if they throw him into full training that quickly.

Not a cat in hells chance of Allen being on the bench for Leicester or probably anytime in August. Pericarditis can be debilitating and recovery needs careful management.

I had an ACL reconstruction as a consequence of a football injury. The surgery isn't that bad ( muscle is taken from the thigh to construct a new ligament ) but the real issue is potential muscle wastage due to the initial bed rest. The physio is intense to say the least and the new ligament is only well and truly good to go once it has developed its own new blood vessels. This is why it takes so long to come back from an injury of this nature. It can also cause cartilage issues later on.

Not just recovery time, but how long to get to to speed. Missing pre season can be massive in that respect
