I don’t think any of those signings compare to this one. Hamer is the closest comparison and was a stunning success but this is totally different - it’s a huge gamble, and if it fails it’s a disaster that could set us back years.

Would love to know what research we have done on this guy. Looks so raw and cumbersome on the clips of him. The comments on him don't exactly fill me with confidence. If we were spending £2m on him I'd could maybe see it.

Mind you I thought Gyokeres was an absolute carthorse on first viewings.

Most of us fans have limited - to put it politely - knowledge of football outside of the league their club plays in and the Prem/UCL. At best, a wider knowledge of the top 5 leagues.

It’s why our threads on potential signings feature familiar names either opponents or ex-players/linked signings.

Our recruitment policy is genuinely exciting and clearly lead by data and with scouts of extensive knowledge of the leagues they’re scouting.

This could seriously pay-off and genuinely challenge for automatics.

Calm down, it’s not your money. Just seems a lot of cash for someone we aren’t talking about like the finished article.

For the amounts spent in relation to the money we had available I'd say they're comparable. Hamer was our biggest fee since Freddie Eastwood, Gyokeres was a similar amount and paying instalments of the latter was significant enough to disrupt our cashflow just last season. So at the time they also represented considerable gambles on the club's part.

We aren't spending money we don't have.

I genuinely don’t get the reluctance to jump on board and enjoy the ride by some on here
Ever since we lost the playoff final we knew Vik was going and possibly Hamer , as it stands we still have Gus
Also we got top money for Vik and also got Sporting to stump up the sell on money to Brighton
Since then we all agreed we needed to own more of our players , especially in defence . We’ve now signed a whole back 5 while retaining Fadz and Bidwell . We have another highly rated goalkeeper to compete with Wilson
And if anyone saw the signings of Simms and now today this Wright fellow then they are liars
We’ve also got Sakamoto who looks like he can change a game , young talent like Burroughs and Howley emerging and the potential for more players coming in
Jump on board , enjoy the ride . This season is going to be special

Just watched his "highlights" video. 90% of them are him miscontrolling, diving, missing the target or taking the wrong option. Even his goals are mostly deflected and wouldn't go in against Championship GK's. Most insane signing in our history.
